| Wondering what you would be willing to pay for a good stallion flyer? I have done two stallion flyers for an owner that seemed very pleased with the results. The other inquiries I received seem turned away by the price I was asking for design. I am also attaching a mock flyer I created (fake horse and ranch) feel free to critique. I was charging $100 per flyer with free edits such as the year, stud fee, sponsors, or eligibility.

Location: Deep South | Are they allowed to use the flyer they purchase for all their advertising such as posting it on their website/Facebook, or running an ad in a magazine? I just wasn't sure on your copyright legalities. If so, I think that is a reasonable price. It looks like quality work to me. If they are paying $100 and you are sending them ONE print ad, then I could see where people may shy away from that price?
Also, how long does something like this take to do? I'm really not that familiar with this sort of thing. That is something I would factor into my price. If everyone knows that it only takes about 10 minutes to spit this out, they may not appreciate that price. But if this is something that you really have to sit down and play with for quite a while, then it lends itself towards a higher price.
I didn't really intend for you answer these questions, just something I would consider. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I paid $35 with a gal on facebook. She did a nice job, what I was wanting. She sent me the PDF and I paid another $35 to have her have 20 printed and mailed to me on glossy paper.

Location: Land Of Oz | $75-$100 seems reasonable to me for a 600 dpi pdf to do with as they see fit. I would like to think that should include an edit to resize for different publication. Once you have the design down, resize isn't isn't too much of a biggy provided it isn't a different layout totally.

Location: Gainesville, TX | I haven't done a stallion flyer but have done lots of advertising and publishing materials using Adobe and Publisher. They can take a while, even if you use a template for a base. I think that's a reasonable price provided the original file was given to the purchaser. |

| I send a flatten (unable to be editted) jpeg at 300 ppi which is more than enough for digital printing. I also send a 72 ppi that is ideal for web and facebook uploading. They can do what they please with the artwork. Sometimes these flyers take up to 3 hours to create depending. $35 is a great deal! |

I didn't pay for 4 years of college to get a degree in Marketing for my daughter and not expect her to do mine. 
I think you are very reasonable. If I was going to critique the mock flyer, I would make the pics larger and the pedigree smaller though.

I wonder if she wasn't just getting started maybe? Trying to get her name out there? She was advertising on facebook and I thought "well, why not?" I like what she did. I wanted it simple. I have a habit of putting way too much info on mine. In all honesty, I think $100 is a very fair deal if the buyer can do with the flyer as she/he pleases afterwards. |

That very well could be. I have read on many graphic design jobs that you have to start out working for almost nothing to get your name out there. And some students will make ads for a cheaper rate and use it as a school project. This could have been the case. :) I did do two flyers for a lady for $120 in hopes of getting more business but no such luck.
I originally went to school for Graphic Design because I was good at two things. Art and horses. I thought I could some day be a freelance designer part time working from home and pursue my dream of raising and training horses. Ah....someday.  |

But people do like to get by cheap if they can. You wouldn't believe some of the replies I get from people when they ask about my prices on artwork. Keeping in mind it takes a minimum of 2-3 days for me to do a drawing, plus the cost of supplies & shipping.....I've been told more than once that my prices should be $50-$75! |

True. It's time consuming but not as difficult or time consuming as actual art ( painting, drawing). Is your profile picture some of your work? |

You will get there, honestly, and I bet it is faster than you think. My friend does it and made my website. She is super talented. For me, sometimes it is hard to get things done as fast as I need (even as a paying customer), but she does fantastic work and works from home with her 2 kids. It is so perfect for her. She does ads for people and not sure how the business works, but she designs logos and makes decent money that way. |

Thanks so much for your nice recommendation, it means the world to me as a Graphic Designer! I always try to keep my prices low so that everyone can afford them, big or small. In my opinion, I feel it's absurd to charge someone $100+ dollars for something that can take me less than 4 hours to make. I like to think that if I wasn't a graphic designer working at home, how many hours would I have to work somewhere else for $35? At least 4. So in my opinion working for 2 hours at $15 an hour isn't bad.. sometimes I have at least 4 flyers or other services to do. Until proven otherwise, I plan to keep my prices where they are at. Not only does it work for the customers, were both happy. Without happiness on both ends there's nothing. :)
