I AM being nice

Location: MD | I am a HUGE fan of this show and just finished watching a couple of episodes on reruns. It would make me insanely happy if more people were to watch this show and then grow up to look and act like the King brothers! Hey, if young girls are all going to become the trashy girls from Rodeo Girls, I can dream, can't I?! Seriously though, those boys know the definition of work ethic! |

Location: PA | My husband, and his sisters went to school with them, and are friends. In fact, the whole family is really good friends with the King family. My MIL routinely goes to the King farm to buy fresh produce and stuff.
I've never watched the show, just thought I'd throw that out there...haha. |

Β Can you explain what that means? We have a diversified crop mix, which I wouldn't define as monoculture at all. So your definition must be different than mine. |

Hope I didn't offend you. Google Joel Salatin.
I probably used the wrong words but farming using plants and animals together for soil improvement.

They're produce farmers. They raise produce crops. Sweet Corn, tomatoes, peppers, etc. They do things on a small scale compared to most farmers. They sell their produce and the chickens and eggs they raise at their markets. They also run a bakery and a CSA program. |

You'd be surprised. Many farmers raise animals and crops together. You'd be hard pressed to find a hog farm without a few fields used to grow hay, peanuts, beans, corn, etc. And they might have a herd of cattle to eat the hay they spray on too. It's pretty common around here.
My neighbors grow tobacco, corn, wheat, soybeans, cotton and have 3 top houses along with a decent herd of cattle. They spray the lagoons on the hay fields and feed the hay to the cows. Pretty sustainable actually. |
