Lot 20 "Bluey" sells December 7th in Las Vegas! Take a look at his shape, muscle and color!!! He is a gorgeous 5 yr old gray gelding that stands 15 hands. We have used him to gather cattle in the pasture and to just joy ride around the ranch. He is gentle and has a nice handle. He has a nice neck rein and will stop hard. You dont see them look like this very often! Cribber.

would that keep you from buying him, because he cribs?

Cribbing drives me up a wall. Would rather hear nails on a chalk board.
But, if cribbing doesn't bother you.... Be mindful a potential health concerns related to cribbing in some of them. I have read a cribber could have ulcers to PSSM. That they crib to help with pain. And some say cribbing is a learned behaviour....

i have a cribber.. solid top of the 2D cracks into the 1D as wellโ€ฆ he's freaking nice but when I put it in his ad that he cribbed- I didn't get a single email. I have a feeling if he wasn't a cribber he would have been snatched up. Cribbing does not bother me personally, and if I weren't going to sell it, I wouldn't think twice. Resale however, I wouldn't.

Have a cribber and would not trade him for anything. Not an issue when his collar is on.

I would say it depends on how well he would fit your needs and whether you plan to sll him at any point.  Like stated above, cribbing can be a huge turn-off for buyers.  We had thre cribbers in a research herd and some were more dedicated to the habit than others.  I can say that in two years, not a single other horse in the herd (of about 65) began cribbing.  Two would be fine with collars on, but the third would crib with every collar we tried.  Personally, it is a vice I would not want in any horse I owned.  It releases endorphins, and is irritating as heck.  They can end up damaging fences and buildings as well.  We didn't have any additional health problems with the cribbers due to their cribbing, but that does not mean it does not happen.  I can certainly see them being predisposed to ulcers and such.

It would depend on how bad he is. If it is controlled with a collar I would consider him.

It depends on what you are willing to put up with and how controllabel it is with a collar.  My sister has one, I would not own one.  He broke a 100 gallon rubbermaid water tank cribbing on it.

Cribbing does affect price, but not a ton. There are people out there that will deal with it to have a nice running horse at an affordable price. Anyone looking to buy a cribber, need to do a dental exam before buying a cribber.
I have one and he's controlled with his collar. Would I purchase another, yes but price should reflect the vice.

I know there are a lot of nice ones that crib but for the most part, you could not give me one. I rarely see a cribber that looks content, whether with a collar or without. I have always said that if you see one tied to my trailer and it is wearing a cribbing collar, you can look for me on television in December because it would have to be one that could take me to the Thomas & Mack for me to own one. I do not care what color, sex, size or age they are because I know it is a timed event and the one that crosses the finish line first is the one I want but it would have to be a jam-up horse for me to even consider a cribber, though.

I own a cribber, owned him for several years before he started cribbing.  We had a really wet winter and he was stalled a lot.  He does not crib if turned out and only wears a collar if stalled.  He is a beautiful horse and a top athlete.  With my daughter has run in the top 15 at 400+ shows 3 days in a row.   I would not discount his price if he were for sale and I would be a cribber if he met all my other requirements.

Depends on how often and why he cribs. My friend bought a horse who the owner said "only does it sometimes" until we got him home and he destroyed our wooden fence posts. Turns out he had a myriad of problems - ulcers, teeth floating, back soreness. She's still trying to deal with it.

I would buy a horse that cribs if he were a proven performer. I've never owned one but I've met a few and while the habit is annoying I'd just accept it as their quirk

I have a cribber. It was a trade deal and I really didn't know that about him when we traded, but found out after a few minutes of him standing tied at my house. I tried letting him go without a collar, but I have ended up putting a collar on him. At first it drove me up the wall, but as I have come to piece parts of this horse's background together a lot of things including his cribbing make sense. He is funny and will only crib in one spot of his stall and it can be controlled with a collar. I have noticed that when he is stressed out, his cribbing will increase, so I think his was/is a by product of ulcers and nerves. Here is my take, I don't love it, but if it was the right horse, it sure wouldn't turn me off of that horse either.....I think that this is one of the big reasons he didn't sale when I tried to sale him.
