The speed at which society has advanced technologically has made people more narcissistic & attention-craving than ever. Every time I see someone post a selfie I want to comment "Here, here is some attention...is that enough to make you feel good about yourself today?"
I really have a problem with it. Not the occasional 'new hair' or 'dressed up' or whatever, but the CONSTANT selfie-taking & posting makes me feel nothing but disdain for the selfie-taker. Feel good about yourself because you like yourself, not because other people hit a 'like' button on a stupid picture you took. Of yourself. By yourself. With no friends because you're too wrapped up in yourself to realize that other people actually physically exist in the world, not just on your facebook page.
Okay, rant over. I haven't had enough coffee today, apparently.

I post pictures of Steve, my horses & dogs all the time & I'm sure I drive selfie-takers nuts. "Why does she always post pictures of her dumb horses?"

I have a friend that constantly does that and I'm thinking do you know how many people are looking at your boobies........I unfriended one of my sister's because she posted a selfie of herself without a shirt on. She was showing Facebook her sunburn on her back.........and the puckered lips......come on people......the raised eyebrows aren't much better...... |

| From perusing the "Casual Connections" on Craigslist (in times of complete boredom after looking at BHW and all of the nearby "Farm and Garden"s I am convinced that selfies were invented to post questionable pics you wouldn't dare ask friends to take. A la' Anthony Weiner type pics.
I can honestly say that I have never taken one.....well except that one of my my hand when I was sitting on my colt for the first time to prove that I was actually sitting on him. Does that count?  |

I actually have a hilarious story from the Missed Connections CL site.
Guy I work with came in with a MC post he'd found re: another co-worker. It was from a girl who had seen him at a restaurant & they had "shared a deep, meaningful glance"...she proceeded to find him on facebook, send him a huge long message about how she wasn't crazy & he should get to know her. When he forwarded me the message & the profile...it was a CRAZY girl I went to high school with. Still cracks me up when I think about it - oh & her facebook page is filled with selfies & pictures of her FEET. |
