I ordered the ulcercure otc for my gelding that is confirmed with ulcers.  My main concern is how to administer.  This horse is a pasture horse comes in the barn in the evening for grain with the others, is in about 30 minutes and then out to graze or eat hay.  I know this isn't ideal according to the ulcercure instructions.  My intent is to feed a very small amount with the ulcercure and kick him out, he won't get his normal ration unless he shows decrease in body condition, for the 30 days of treatment.  Has anyone had good results treating this way?

My horse was already a hard keeper so decrease feed amount wasn't an option for me.  She was a pasture horse though, I would give her ulcercure then an hour later her normal feeding.  So I know that doesn't help you much.

What I did find use full was instead of using the syringe they provide which had the large opening so made it harder to get into mouth with out some falling out, and was solid white so I couldnt see if all the powder was mixed enough.  I used a 30cc syringe and broke the tip off so there was just a little hole in the base.  I pulled the plunger apart, covered hole with finger and dumped powder in.  Then I added some water.  put plunger back by fliping the syringe and uncovering hole as I pushed plunger in.  Hope that makes sense.  then before plunger was completely in I mixed really well.  Then squirted in back of mouth.  MUCH easier for me! and I have some friends that give it to like 8 horses on their farm and they found my way easier too.  Good luck helped my horse alot.

You know, I just feed it with my morning meal not 2 hours ahead of time and it still worked great for me.

I have a mare that is a witch with a different letter instead of the 'w'. She's he,11 on wheels, hard to handle, opinionated, and will stomp you in the ground if the mood hits her right...sticking her in a stall to medicate her is not a great idea unless you have good insurance and an employer who understands your need for FMLA.
That being said, I put her ulcercure OTC in with her normal evening grain and her ulcers are much improved. She had surgery in April this year and all the meds post surgery really tore her belly up. She completely quit eating, that is my red flag that her ulcers are bothering her. It's great stuff, my boogerhead feels and eats much better when she's on her ulcercure. She's much easier to get her breathing meds in when her belly doesn't hurt(breathing issues were the cause for surgery)she actually can be kinda nice, maybe a little less hateful is a better word. :) It works though :)

My daughter's horse gets really skittish, jumpy and irritable. Then I notice that his stools are really loose, almost to the consistency of scours. Never had a problem because he used to be on 50 acres of pasture. Now since moving to CA, he is dry lotted and slug fed 2x a day.

I don't feed the OTC 1-2 hours before either, its just not physically possible. I give him about 16 oz of purina healthy edge in the evening, moisten it a bit and then just mix the OTC in his feed. I've noticed a big difference in disposition and clears up the scours.

How many days of treatment does it take to see a difference?  I'm planning on doing a whole month worth, but know with the holidays we may not get 30 days straight.  Thanks for your response!

I was unable to give the Ulcer cure several hours prior to feeding time too.  So I just put on her grain when I feed. I did do the loading dose for the first month, now she just gets the maintainence dose every day with her grain.

The Ulcer Cure still worked great feeding it this way. I noticed a significant difference in my mare in the first couple of weeks. I have tried stopping the Ulcer treatment a couple of times and within a couple of weeks she starts acting like she has ulcers again.

I have been really happy with being able to feed her an ulcer product this way, just as a top dressing on her feed, that works well.

After @ a week or 2 I notice a difference, but I make sure he finishes the jar.
