Location: ARKANSAS | If you ordered a Saddle offline, and instead of having it sent by mail, had it brought by some people who where friends of the sellers, to a barrel race you are going to. You Pick it up, pay the folks, and take to your trailer. You Get your horse, saddle him up, and get on and realize the saddle does not fit cause it is to small . What would you do??? ( This is What I did) ( i took it off my horse took it back to the folks who brought it and got my money back, and sent it back to seller, Seller then calls me and gives me a royal cussing for not taking the saddle and selling it to someone else, that I was the one in the wrong!!! Seller also stated she had already ordered a new saddle and did not know how she was gonna pay for it now without the sale of this one.(To me this would be the same as writing a hot check) So Back to my question, what would you do? Would you have kept the saddle and tried to resell it knowing it was way to small for you, or would you have done like i did and take it and get your money back??? |

If you had had it sent to you via mail & found it was too small, would you have returned it & demanded your money back?
Sorry, I feel like maybe you should have kept it & tried to resell it. Or maybe at least contacted the seller & asked if they would accept a return instead of using the go-between people. |

Location: Oklahoma | If I bought the saddle as X size and it was X size and just didnt fit me (or my horse) thats MY problem. Not the sellers. I would then advertise the saddle and sell it myself ... thats what happens with saddles -- it is VERY hard to find one that fits -- lots of trial and error. If I sold a saddle with the description and it is what it is ... Id be VERY ticked a buyer tried getting me to return the money and take it back. There are no guarantees with saddle fit. |

Location: Paradise , tx | Was it smaller than what she had told you? If she mis-represented it, yes, I would have returned it and got my money back. I'm sorry she was stuck with it after counting on selling it, but that really was not your fault if mis-represented. I would not worry about it anylonger, she will just have to make other arrangements to get her saddle, and maybe she learned a lesson to not count her chickens (or money) before the sale was finalized. The wise thing to do would have been to wait to order her other saddle after she had money in hand. |

Location: ARKANSAS | i better clarify this a little more...she advertised it as a 15 inch treeless saddle.. i spoke with her on the phone and told her i rode was riding a 15 1/2 treeless by circle y but it is sized that way. if it were a treed saddle it would be a 15 inch. She kept assureing me that it WAS a 15 inch seat...but in fact this treeless saddle even though it is marked 15 inch on it, it in fact rides like a 14 inch....when she re advertised it she THEN states thats it rides smaller than a 15". if she had posted her original ad that way i would have never bothered with it in the first place |

Okay this clears it up a bit.
The saddle was technically not misrepresented in that it is marked as a 15" & was advertised as such. However, the seller knew it rode smaller & sold it to you anyway, with no warning, which puts her at fault.
Now, I agree that the seller was in the wrong, but I still would have called her & given her the heads up that you were returning the saddle & the reason why. However, hindsight is 20-20 & a lesson was learned on both sides, I'd guess. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | When I sell a saddle I state the size of the seat and the tree thats in the saddle, you bought this saddle knowing the seat size right? And then after you said that you are buying the saddle and payed for it and you tryed the saddle, but decided you didnt like the saddle so you wanted your money back ? That was not right what you did. The saddle was your's bought and payed for. I would have called the people that owned it and tolded them that you didnt like the saddle after all and asked them if they would take the saddle back. They could have loss a sale because they were being nice and letting their friends take it to you, what the heck would you have done if the saddle was mailed to you? The saddle was your's to resale if you didnt like it, we have all been there and just sucked it up and resold a saddle that didnt fit right. I'm sorry but not right on your part |

It depends if when you were purchasing the saddle if there was a stipulatin that the saddle had to fit. If there was and this was in writing then yes the seller needed to refund the money, if there was no contract you are lucky she refunded you the money, as she didn't have to.
It is buyer beware, do your research each brand fits differently, ask for lots of pictures including measurement of the gullet and seat. |

I would have at least called the seller and NEVER used the friend who did you a favor by delivering the saddle as a go between. The seller didn't even have a chance to communicate, and the friend was put in a awkward position by having to give you the money back when it wasn't yours nor her decision to make.
There are many saddle brands whose seat size is one thing, but they feel like another. when I have sold used saddles in the past, if the person wants to come to my house and fit their horse, that is perfectly fine. But if I am selling it online, shipping or delivering it, it's on them if it doesn't fit. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Depending on the brand of treeless, it is well known that they fit smaller then the actual seat size. That's why it's recommended to research any products before purchase. She probably didn't feel the need to advertise it that way at first because sometimes we all make the mistake of assuming everyone knows certain things. She probably then advertised it that way to save her the headache of having it returned.
If the saddle was truly marked a 15, and she sold it as a 15, then you should not be expecting to just be able to return it unless you guys discussed it first. If seller is willing to take it back, then count your blessings. I can see both sides of this.
But the fact of the matter is that you were able to give it back and get your money back, so therefore you should be very content and happy. A lot of people get stuck with stuff they can't return for many reasons. |

I don't agree....it is the BUYER's responsibility to research the saddle seat size....If the seller sold it as a 15" and it is marked a 15".....the seller did nothing wrong....I would "assume" that she didn't know it rode smaller and until the OP returned it that is why she put it is her NEXT ad......If I had been the seller, I would have been VERY ticked that the OP didn't, at the very least, have the common courtesy to contact me before arranging to send it back. |

^^ Absolutely agree with above posters. Saddles feel different to different people. You agreed to buy a 15" saddle and that is what she sent. If you don't like it, it's on you to resell. At least have the common curtesy to call the seller instead of just pawning the chore off on someone else. I can understand why she was ticked. Just another lesson not to take people at their word. |

Location: South Georgia Good o'l USA | I was in your shoes, lol...I purchased an adverised 15", Deb Sibley because the 14" BM Original I had was kinda tight...so when I recieved it and found it was actually a bit snugger in fit than my 14", I was a bit upset. But, instead of sending it back I decided to use it as an incentive to lose some weight, which I did...20# ...but...I just recieved a 15" Original BM and let my hubby know what he got me for Christmas...kinda like the extra room on a big horse I have though so...it's all good. As far as your situation...it sounds like it's all good on your end so I wouldn't stress about it...take it as a learning experience and have them picture a measure on any item as such, in the future...I did on the second saddle I purchased and a blanket I was about to purchase since and am sure glad I did because the saddle was correct but the pad was a good 1" off what I wanted. |
