My mares last saddle was too narrow so I sold it and bought this one. Definitely not a perfect fit but WAY better then her last one. My pad is 5yrs old and my other is even older. So for Christmas I decided I am buying a new pad...

My local feed store has some Classic Equin felt/wool pads, 3/4" and 1". Would one of thos be ok or do I need a shimable pad? A lot of people suggested a biofit pad but wasnt sure if that would be too much....

I'm not good with saddle fit....but if it fits pretty good, you can go with a thinner pad.  I like the 5 Stars.  A 1/2" 5 Star would be fine....don't let the small thickness worry you, the wool is VERY soft and supportive.  I have a 7/8" and could have easily gone with a 3/4".  Another pad you might look into is the Saddleright.  I've always wanted to try one!!  And they are thin as well.
