Before I start, I will say, yes I do plan on going to the doctor for bloodwork. But I do not have insurance and have to wait till after Christmas. :)

Does anyone have issues with staying awake? I am "OK" at work and driving and messing with my horses, but as soon as I have nothing stimulating going on in my brain, I am OUT. And within a minute. Even seconds.

I get plenty of sleep. At least 7-8 hours a night. I  eat healthy and exercise. ( I can run 4 miles fairly easily)

As soon as I sit on the couch at night, my eyes just close. I can't help it. When I go to bed, I am out in literally seconds.  It's becoming rather annoying! My husband thinks so too...... lol

I don't think it's narcolepsy. I don't fall asleep randomly during the day. But maybe I have a touch of it.

Just curious if anyone experienced anything like this. Thanks ~

Oh, I should say, I do not have that stressful of a job either. A little but nothing abnormal.

Do you think you get too much sleep? I’m at my best when I get 5-6 hours of sleep. Any more than that and I’m tired throughout the day.

Also, if I don’t keep busy and sit on the couch to watch a movie I will fall asleep because it’s so boring lol upsets the people I watch movies with because I have to watch the movie 26576816 times before I actually watch it to the end!

If I dont get 9 hours each night I'm a wreck.  Everybody is different with sleep requirements.  I would try to get a little more sleep on a regular basis and see if that changes anything.

Do you get a honest 7-8 hrs of sleep?
I can lay down and be asleep in min at 9pm, then up at 11,1,3 and 5.... so while I lay down and all for 8 hrs I don't sleep that much...

Also, any added stress?  maybe the weather has something to do with it...
Take any multivitamins?  B6 is good for tired...

I do. I do not wake up at night. Once in a blue moon if I need to use the restroom.

It's been noticibly worse for about the past year. I have a new postion at work that is a little more stressful but not terrible.

I will try the B6. I do take a multi vite already. Maybe I need a little more...

Thanks!

Do you snore? Sleep apnea is a much bigger problem than most people think. My husband had sleep apnea and would go to sleep sitting at the dining table. A C-pap machine helped him tremendously. Have your husband stay awake one night and listen to your breathing. If you have sleep apnea you will stop breathing for a short period of time-my husband would stop breathing for 30 seconds or longer.

Ad the b vitamins.  I am a naturaly laid back type person and get sluggish even with the proper amount of sleep.  B complex really helped out.

The thing with vitamins is you need to take them 3x a day because you body uses what it needs and the rest goes out the other end.
This is how it was explained to me by my nutritionest.
I usually end up taking them in the morning and at lunch.

Try waking up at a different time.  I know I hate waking up around 5 am, but if I do, I am WIDE awake.  Anytime between 6 and 8 and I'm very sluggish.  I wonder f the new position has your brain tired?  My BF requires a nap after work because he has so much happening at work.

Heart problems and blood pressure problems can also cause issues like this too.

I agree on the b-vitamins. Iron is another thing to look at. You may also want to play around with your sleep hours and try sleeping less and sleeping more to see what effect that has. There's an App that calculates optimum times for you to go to bed and get up. It's based on sleep rhythms and it calculates so that you don't wake up in the middle of a sleep cycle and then be too tired.

I'm the SAME way when watching movies. I used to get SO mad at my mom because she would ALWAYS fall asleep watching movies and now I am the exact same way. I am on the go constantly, so when I sit down, my eyes SHUT!

That was my thought too

I was like this with both of my pregnancies too so that's just a thought. Another thought is...how much water do you drink? I get REALLY sleep and tired all the time when I don't drink enough water. I aim for 2 liters a day of plain water.

Definitely NOT prego! lol And my hubby said I do not snore. Well, unless I drink a little too much. haha

Thank you for all of the suggestions! Going to get some b vitamins. I will make sure they test my thyroid and other things when I go in next month.

I feel ya girl... I was tested for mono three times during high school because I was always tired. I have had my thyroid/blood/all of that checked and they can't find anything. I can get 12 hours of sleep and still be exhausted. I substitute teach during the day and waitress some nights of the week and both days during the weekend, and on the days I don't have to work at night, I pretty much go to bed right after I get home because I'm so exhausted. I'm tired of being tired, too!

One more thing I thought of....I went to the dr. a while back for bloodwork because of fatigue and found out I have terrible allergies that were dragging me down. Now I take Allegra at night and my fatigue is gone!

Used2B makes a good point.....turns out my mom is allergic to dairy and that's why she was always miserable and tired growing up.  You might look into that.  Some allergies don't have scary reactions, they just suck all your energy out fighting against the food you're eating.  I guess the word is "intolerant".

I was like that really bad in high school, sleepy all the time fall asleep randomly and it turned out I am hypoglycemic and my blood sugar would get really low and that's what was making me feel that way. Maybe try eating a little bit throughout the day instead of large meals and stay away from super processed things and a lot of sugar.
