I found out my feed store was a dealer for this feed and may carry it again. I am thinking of switching to it. If you use it or used it could you tell me the good and bad and why you switched to it? Also about how much a bag was it?

Thanks!

We just started yesterday so I have no updates yet but it cost us $30 for a 30# bag.
calls for 1 to 1-1/3 pound per day versus 3+ pounds per day and the cost is roughly the same when its all said and done.

I too just started feeding this within the last few days. I have an ulcer prone gelding and have quit feeding processed grain.  Going to all forage and trying the Renew Gold. I paid $30/bag.

I recently decided to try it, half way through a bag. IMO its not a complete feed you need to add vit/min to it. I definitely like the philosophy behind it, I worry though if they are on grass hay and RG if they will get enough protein.

I called and visited with Win at Renew Gold. He is the formulator and so personable and helpful as well. He recommended a good salt and trace mineral source to be fed if you're not feeding grain (Redmon Blocks for everyone anyway!) but that a vitamin source probably isn't necessary unless you have special needs.

I've had mine on it for 30 days. I dropped all grain on my 9 yr old, reduced grain by 6 lbs on my five yr old, and I'm getting ready to cut my 2 yr old back by 6 lbs. Needless to say I'm impressed. The younger horses are big strapping 16.2+ boys and they take a lot. I'm tickled I can feed less, and even the price of Renew Gold at $36 dollars a bag I'm looking at over a $2000 a year savings on my feed bill.

Made one horse very hot.  The others I've not seen any difference in at all....not in weight/body condition/shine or energy level.  I've given it an honest try but will not be buying any more.  Some people;however, absolutely love the product.

I have been giving it to my 3 that I run.  It is making 1 very hot and ammped up when apporaching the gate but he still goes in and works.  Don't know if it is the right product for him.   My other 2 are fine on it.

I can't figure out to link threads but search under "Renew Gold Feeders" - this has been going on for the last couple of weeks and very informative!

Renew Gold is not primarily an energy source alone. It works by allowing the horses digestive system to more completely use everything that is in its diet. If you feed Renew Gold and find that it makes your horse hotter than you want, the answer is to lower the other starch and sugar sources in the diet. In most cases, replacing most or all of your other feed concentrates and more completely digesting the good hay you feed results in a calmer horse. If you experience a different result, it is because there is still more starch and sugars in the diet than the horse needs. Lower the amount of other feeds more, or switch to a hay that is lower in starch and the attitude will change. More complete digestive function in the hind gut will keep the horses fit by capturing more calories from the hay that you feed. These are calories that were in there but ended up on the ground behind the horse because of incomplete digestion of the roughage. These are safer calories for the horse to use than those found in grain. If you have a horse that is too calm, you can adjust that also by simply adding a small amount of a starch source to slightly elevate blood sugar levels to reach the energy level you want. Sherry Cervi adds one pound +/- of oats per day to Renew Gold for Stingray. This is not for performance, but to dial in the base energy level that Sherry is comfortable with while still having the focus that the mare needs to pay attention to her job.

I switched because my horse is like a child: you give him sugar, and he can't think straight. He's been on it for almost 2 months.

The first month we fed 3 lbs COB ( they were on 6 before) and 3/4 lb. of RG. This second month we went to a full pound of RG and no COB. My measuring was off for the first month, otherwise I would have fed a full pound. We feed 1/2 pound morning and night.

My dad said the new horse is really gaining weight (his backbone was kind of showing). When I rode my horse this winter when I visited home, (he was rode about 4x between Nov and Dec) he walked calmly back to the house after a workout in the field and this is HUGE. He usually prances like a parade horse all the way back. But last time he walked flat footed and didn't offer to quicken his pace. Can't wait to see how it affects them this spring!! Dad liked what he saw so he put the whole herd on it.

Yes that helps out a lot!!! I finally found a source to get it from. I'm paying quite a bit more but it sounds like its worth it!

Can you tell me how much of the RG measures one pound? I don't have a scale, so I'm not sure if I'm feeding the right amount.....
