Location: Oregon | Has any one had their horse not like a specific arena? Like not even come close to finishing patterns well running sideways, evading everything ect ect.... He is or was fine every where i have taken him except this one particular arena ... He was to the point of being dangerous with me and very VERY not like himself... He was fine during warm up and everything else, except during the pattern ... Just curious if any one has had this issue before?? |

| Oh yes................... My now 32 year old 1D, gone to the NFR back in the day, SOLID as a rock mid 17 second horse HATED, LIVID, COULD NOT STAND, WOULD RATHER DIE THAN RUN THERE, one arena here close to us. For whatever reason. I ran this horse in a HALTER he was that broke and was that solid on the pattern. He would lap the arena, queens run when he ran there. Just so happens thats where the most added money is.. lol |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | There's one arena up here (that I personally LOVE running at) that I can't take Girlfriend to, to run at. She goes in fine and makes a beautiful run but it's got a side exit gate that she runs straight for after she turns the 3rd. I can't run her there anymore because even if I exhibition her straight back down the alley in slow work she knows where to go out after she runs. She's the only horse that I've got, that does it too. |

The horse that doesn't like it is already a bit of a spooky guy but man he sure sees a lot more in this arena than he does anywhere else. He will run bottom of the 1D top of the 2D anywhere else but here we either hit a barrel or run 2 seconds off. |

Location: EDGE OF INSANITY | Yes!!!!! My laid back, walk right in the alley gelding hates one particular arena. He will balk going in the gate and our run is usually full of darting, kicking out and whatever tricks he can pull out of his butt lol. He NEVER does this anywhere else |

| I have two suggestions. One don't go to that arena. Try the Acculife Ion patches. |

| Some actually remember where they suffered pain. My horse hesitates entering one of the many pens I go to because I ran her there before my vet diagnosed and treated her for a painful condition. |

| My now retired gelding NEVER bulked at any gate, anywhere, EVER...except the arena where he had his accident. From what we understand, the previous owner and rider were running home in this particular arena, gelding tripped and did a summersault or rolled over rider, and previous owner broke her neck.
We went to a little fun show at this arena thinking nothing of it. My gelding bulked at the gate for the first time (while I've owned him). He wasn't being an idiot either, he just wouldn't go forward into the arena. When I finally got him in, he wouldn't listen and wouldn't run or give it his all like he usually did.
So, I do believe that some horses just don't like certain arenas. I avoided that arena in favor of the other arenas my horse was more comfortable in - just like avoiding an arena with bad ground. |

| My horse does not seem to like the really dark covered arenas. From a horse's point of view, I think it may be because the brightness from outside mixed with the darkness inside makes her somewhat unable to see. I know horses can see very well in the dark, but it takes a while for their eyes to adjust and the contrasted lighting may confuse her. |

Location: Crazy House | Yes! I have one who loves this arena and one who hates it. He was never hurt there and doesn't act stupid. He will walk down the ally and take off but no matter how hard u push he will not run hard there. No clue why. Every other arena he hauls freight but this one. |

Location: Washington | Yep! He's quiet anywhere else. My 3 yr old daughter was taking him through a standard size pattern by herself and later that night I'd win the race, just to give you an idea on how quiet he is.
This one arena, he's on the muscle the second he steps out of the trailer. Last time I ran him there he tried to take off out of the warm up. I've been running him for 4 years, been to more arena's then I can count, one year hitting rodeos even.
We wont be back! |

i guesss it would have made more sense to me if he was being a butt, or freaking out ect... from the start ... like during warm up, walking around outside or standing in line waiting for our turn...
but it was ONLY during our patterns ...
i really liked that arena too :( |

| Same here, one arena that he will NOT approach the first correctly, or turn it. He straightens his rib cage and blows out the back side every time. Nothing bad has happened here and it is somewhere we go quite often.
I ended up hauling him there a couple times to work on the issue after the season was over.. started figuring out some of it, and getting his confidence up in the ground/arena. I will keep going to practise in the spring until he is comfortable there. |

| My 1-D mare has won over 10K in rodeos and Open barrel races and she HATES C bar C in Cloverdale, IN. I have no idea why. She is perfect in the alley at every other race and there she turns into a complete psycho. She still runs a great pattern when you finally get her in the pen, but she clocks about 1/2 second off. The last time I hauled her there, she refused so bad, she bit me on both my shins when I asked for her head to go in the pen. She is a complete turd! I have no idea why she doesn't like it, she's still rock solid at Gordyville and other indoor pens and she's never questioned an outdoor arena either. The first couple of times I hauled her to Cloverdale, she got a check in the 1-D, and after that, she started progressively getting worse going into the pen. I have no idea what it is about the place she doesn't like. |

Thats the way my boy was! I took him there last month and he did act a little off i juust thought he was too excited, he is still learning ect but he still completed the patterns, but he got ten times worse this time, not even finishing his barrel pattern, blowing out of it, going sideways ect, ended up with a no time... so im trying to figure out if it is worth it to take him back and make him walk through the patterns... or if i should just say screww it and never take him back there lol |

| I've decided to stay away. My gelding didn't fire at all there when I went this last time, and it's too far to drive to have a nice horse lope a barrel pattern. I have a saddle club 4 miles away to practice in. :) I just bought a stud horse and I may try to haul him there later when he starts running a little bit, but who knows. I don't know why my horses don't like it there. It's weird. Most people don't seem to have any trouble. |
