Impressive!!!! I guess then I'd call AQHA & talk to them about the situation. |

| Unless you have cooperation from the original owner you are probably SOL. AQHA cannot match up the stud from DNA. Also the stallion owner has to put the mare on his stallion report. My mare is NOT bred and I called the stallion owner and she did NOT put my mare on her report by mutual agreement. There was no point. You do kind of need to have an idea what stallion your mare was bred to. Sounds like the foal is out of Louisiana by Midnight. |

Why are they acting this way? Whats the big deal I wonder, are they trying to cover up something? |

Maybe the mares parents don't know and they are trying to protect her identity.

hahahahaha no!
I guess I'm just in awe of the whole situation, I'm past the irritated part...it's more funny now. I wish I knew who the stallion was so I could at least put a pedigree up for the baby LOL. Welp looks like I'm going to be a grandma.....hope my blue roan mare isn't bred either! (they came from the same lady) |

| Wow. That stinks. Given that she has blocked you and all that, I wonder if the little bundle of joy will pop out with long ears, or spotted, or foxtrotting, LOL! |

Sounds to like the person told the stallion owner that the horse was not bred and did not pay a stud fee. If the horse is bred and the stallion owner is contacted he will not issue a breeder's certificate without a stud fee. This would be the only reason I can think of for a person to act this way. Trying to hide something.

Location: MI | Congrats on being a gramma :). I got my colt similar. I bought the mare, guy was up front that she may be bred for a spring baby, but that it would be 100% registrable. He had the stud there. I believed him. Guy sold all of his horses, none of them were switched into his name from the previous owners (some had gone through 2-3 owners), and the stud wasn't ever registered with the AQHA as a breeding stallion. The mare was solid APHA, and the stud wasn't listed with the APHA as a breeding stallion. No breeding report. I was out of luck. I tracked down the guy who bought the stud, but they never transferred the stud into the guy who owned him at the time of the breeding, so that fell through too. That's when my husband said that we aren't buying any more horses whose papers weren't in order. Oh, and then he was born the day before Thanksgiving!
Thankfully, I LOVE my colt. He has my soul.

Location: SE KS | I had a similiar situation, bought mare, foaled next spring!! She was APHA, n I called the people that owned the mare before I bought her, they didn't have a clue how that happened!!! So I called the person that owned her before them. He was no help!!! However, I researched every possible male horse he owned both AQHA & APHA during the approximate time frame, & submitted them to APHA. Sadly no match was found.
Don't write it off, if he YOU can "prove" with the dna that your foal is by such n such horse stud, you have a lot of "power". Becuase it is right there in black & white.
My horse was a filly, so if they'd of wanted me to pay for some expenses, I'd have been open to the idea, bc now all I have is a grade Dun Tobiano mare!

well turns out my Buckskin broodmare is bred......And she was sold to me as open. So, question is....since I have no idea who the stud is and the mare has her DNA done....can they run DNA from the colt to match a stud? Stupid question I know but just kinda looking for ideas on what to do.....I kinda figured I'm SOL
Doubt you would be lucky enough that there might be a breeding report on file with AQHA? Would be at least worth a call |

I already gave them a call like 10 after 8a.m. LOL. She pulled her name and it isn't listed on any stallion report....so I'm SOL pretty much lol.
O well, chalk it up to another lesson learned. Hope I can find a home for the baby, cause I don't need another weanling LOL |
