The school I work at has had a rough couple of months. One of my students (4th grade) passed away in November. On Monday, a student I had last year lost her mother. Last night, one of the high school students committed suicide. His brother, who is one of my students, was in the house when it happened. Today, another one of my kiddos had to learn the hard way that there is no Santa. His dad took off and his mom is having a hard time making ends meet. She had to tell him there was no Santa so he wouldn't be confused on Christmas day when they received little to no gifts. He was in tears, so I went by Walmart and bought some stuff for him. I can't imagine what these little guys are going through, and how can we expect them to succeed in the classroom when their home life is in shambles. It breaks my heart.
If you could spare some prayers for these kiddos and their families, I would really appreciate it.

Bless your heart for caring for this family and helping out at Christmas.  Is there anything any of us can do for any of these families besides thoughts and prayers?

Bless your heart for caring for this family and helping out at Christmas.  Is there anything any of us can do for any of these families besides thoughts and prayers?

That is very sweet of you to offer. The students  who lost their mother attend pretty much 3 schools in our district due to their ages. The schools took up donations to ensure that the children had a Christmas. With what was donated, the schools were able to purchase quite a bit of stuff for them. The little boy my coworker and I purchased gifts for was thrilled to get his gifts today. He was so full of joy. His mom told him he had a Secret Santa at school who wanted him to have some gifts. He could hardly contain himself.

I'm sure the fact that people are praying for them is appreciated.  There isn't a good time for death, but to have it happen during the holidays is just terrible. Hopefully January will begin the healing process for my school district and the black cloud that has hung over us will be lifted.  It's a rather small district considering what is around us, so any loss touches so many people as everyone knows everyone.

Your thoughts and prayers of healing are sincerely appreciated.
