Selling and shipping a saddle. Any tips or tricks? I'm worried about something going wrong.
Thank you in advance.

I always ship a saddle UPS and never had a problem. Just put some kind of padding on the horn and rubberband it to stay on. and tip it upside down in the box. That's the way the come from the saddle maker :
) Just make sure you get your funds before you ship the saddle.

Thank you. I'm just afraid of being scammed and not having everything in place to be covered. The guy contacted me on a Used saddles page on FB and I told him I will only accept payment via paypal. When I sent the payment request it said I had sent a payment request to him BUT the email is for some women in FL. I'm just a suspicious person I suppose.

UPS has always been great about keeping the tracking UTD. USPS, not so much.
Be sure all other labels are off the box!! Had a saddle shipped to me recently, she put it in the box it originally came from but did not take off old label. Half way enroute to me, they started scanning the WRONG label and started to ship it back to the maker!!

I've always used FedEx, but we have a business account with them and haven't had anything broken
(yet
). What I like to do is take egg cartons
(empty of course, LOL
) and fill them in on the bottom side of the saddle to keep anything from happening to the tree. And they make good filler. Also, make sure the horse is well wrapped
(as another mentioned
). Had great success doing it that way. U-Haul usually has a box that is close to the right size for purchase as well, and that helps a lot.
