Tell me about the College Station area and surrouding areas of about 50 miles. Economy? Cost of living? Horse events? I just graduated from college with a degree in Ag Business and would love to move down that way if I could find a job. If anyone knows any contacts down there that would be amazing as well.

I moved to College Station back in September. I currently live a mile from the school, and work in Bryan about 7 miles from my house. Cost of housing depends on where you want to live in the city. Closer to the school and the more expensive it is. Out on 60 towards Snook or towards Wellborn it gets pretty open and rural. And really it's not that far from "town". Jobs aren't too hard to find seeing as people are always coming and going. I'm an RN and there are several positions open all over town. As for Ag business, I'm not sure. I do know a fellow BB who lives in down and has a similar degree. I just can't remember her username.
As for the horse events, there are lots of clubs in the area for barrel racing. Some are goodto join and others are just good to run at. Snook as weekly exhibitions, and some local boarding facilities have playdays, ropings, etc. you can generally find a barrel race with in an hours drive each weekend.
Pm me if you want more info!

I live about 40 miles northeast of TAMU.  I am in a very rural area of the next county and I would say the cost of living is pretty reasonable.  As far as jobs go, I drove to Bryan for 20 years.  I really enjoyed the quiet time before and after work so the miles didn't bother me.  I am able to live in the country, keep my horses at home and let my dogs run loose if I want to.  There are barrel races almost every weekend within an hour, definitely one every weekend within two hours.
