Location: Qld Australia | It is coming up to the new year and I have a request for my BB's here on BHW as a New Years Resolution.
I have noticed lately a lot of rude personal attacks on this board. People seem to be getting quicker and quicker with their insults and then boast about 'telling it as it is', or 'just saying' etc. Almost as if they are proud of being downright rude and insensitive.
As a group, can I please ask that we take a moment to think and take a breath before we post if we are starting to get heated up over something on this board.
Also, I will add a disclaimer just in case I have managed to annoy any of you with this request; I have not based this request on any one poster!!!! If I have quoted words that have posted in the last month or so, I am not AIMING this at you because believe it or not, probably 20 other BB's have posted the exact same words!
Thank you to all my BHW friends for considering this request and hopefully taking it on board.

You can not control how others act/respond to certain suggestions/comments......it's human nature to become upset with things like that. I've come to realize that it will happen, just smile and be nice......unless it's trash talking my horse or my child then the claws come out! LOL
I agree, it would be nice to see everyone get along....but in reality it's going to be rare to see that. Just my observation. |

This is a PUBLIC board – it is hard (next to impossible) to control someone else’s thought and opinions. 2. If you (“general” plural use of the word ”you”) post a question, opinion, or controversial statement, perhaps, you should not be surprised if it does illicit comments that fall into the Good, Bad, or Ugly category. (Refer to #1) 3. If you feel that you are not able to process or ignore the “Bad or Ugly” comments, perhaps you should refrain from commenting until you feel more confident. 4. If, at any given time, you do feel the “need” to resort to personal attacks or name calling, perhaps, you should look in the mirror to ensure that you have NEVER been guilty of the same sin (i.e. Those who live in glass houses, should not throw stones OR Judge not lest YOU be judged). 5. If, at any given time, you STILL feel the “need” to attack or call names, perhaps, you should not be surprised if the person you attack jumps in your “Rose Garden” and stomps all over your pretty flowers! 6. If, at any given time, you DO feel your “panties (shorts or whitey-tightys) in a wad”, perhaps you should step away from the computer and change your underwear. 7. If, at any given time, you feel the “need” to tell someone what they should or should not, what they can or can not post, or where they should “go”, perhaps, you need to check your name tag to see if it reads “owner” or “mod” of BHW. 8. If, at any given time, you feel the “need” to “fabricate” a story or your life history, please be assured that there are many sleuths and detectives on BHW who will “ferret out” the TRUTH. It's kind of like when a guy will say "Don't be mad" and that only seems to make it worse because while you were actually cooling down, that one statement alone can pi** you off all over again and put you back to where you were before.
On another board that I moderate on, we have a few members who will just start posting pictures of hot looking guys/girls (depending on the poster) and that seems to cool stuff down or divert things better than anything else. That might work here or just posting pictures of good looking studs . . . or shiny things for people like LQHRS and me . . .  |

Whenever I feel agitated or combative I like posting about food and getting FC and TXBO to chime in. It works every time with me. FC is my "go-to person" when it comes to food. Food is a great tranquilizer.
If I find myself slipping into a real vicious adversarial relationship with someone I often eventually try to look for something about which we are in agreement, or something about them that I respect. It's happened many times to me. In the end, I try to remind myself and others that sometimes I get into the most heated arguments with people I love the most. |
