| Does anyone here use these? What do they do and what are they for? I have a horse that's pretty stiff and sore, but when I bought him 2 years ago the girl had pads under his shoes (like the picture I'll attach) Is there any chance that these make any difference for his soundness? He does have extremely sensitive feet and can't go barefoot, so would these help at all? Like I said, he had them on when I got him but my farrier thought they were just for keeping the snow from building up under his feet since that was the middle of winter. So the next time we had him shod we didn't bother putting the pads back on. But shortly after not using them, he got really sore and he's been going downhill from there. So I'm curious, is this just wishful thinking, or do they actually help do something for a horse?

Location: Minnesota | My old mare has these on. Mine are white in color but I'm assuming they are the same thing. She is navicular and requires full wedge pads and shoes to keep her as sound as possible. From my understanding, my farrier put these on this time because she has a little case of Thrush and he wanted to let her souls breathe and this was a way to help still support her hooves without taking off the padding completely. What is causing your horses stiffness? I would think it would be best to get those back on your horse. |

Thanks. I do know he has arthritis as well, that's what's causing his stiffness. I'm thinking I'll try them the next time the farrier comes out, just to see if it makes any difference. |

I think that's a good plan. I can't remember if you said you had your vet out or not to take x rays but that would probably be a good idea. Do you ride this horse? |

I don't think we've ever had x rays done, and if we have, not for his feet, it would have been one of his joints. I haven't been riding this horse, not since late August and that was just light exercise. I used him to run poles early this spring and he hasn't been on barrels in almost 2 years. So no, I don't really ride him anymore, but I probably would if I could get him feeling better. |

I would say have your vet out to do some x rays and that way they can come up with a plan to help. My vet and farrier have worked together to come up with a plan for my oldare and its been amazing to see how far she has come. Good luck! |

| My farrier puts some gunky junk in my horse's front feet. I think it is called Equipak. there is a tube of it laying on the ground and I will look at it and find the name. My trainer was told to use this in her navicular horse's feet and fixed him. Vet never really determined what the lameness in my horse was and we tried wedges and all kinds of things. She is sound now with the Equipak. Farrier uses the one with the copper sulfate to prevent thrush. |

Location: MN | Yep, every winter our farrier buts them on our old mare to help keep her feet from getting snow balls build up. We have to keep shoes on her year around to keep her sound. She is 25 yrs old and she want been ridden in years. If he did put this pads in, she would have terrible build up of snow in her front feet. I think it acts as a thermal break. |

I got him in early February from northern Alberta around Edmonton. That's exactly what the farrier said they were if I remember right. I was just curious if they gave any other protection/ support to the foot, or help with a lame horse? |
