If you had to name a couple of barrel racers (that put on clinics) that really focus on horsemanship who would it be?   I'd like to host a barrel clinic but am looking for barrels AND horsemanship combined.

Any thoughts?!?!?

Ed Wright. Dena Kirkpatrick was doing some with Ian Francis for awhile that were exactly that.

I think Sue Smith focuses a lot on horsemanship.

Bogie Webb (Volin, SD) also puts on some great clinics that are horsemanship based.

Charmayne James. I went to one of hers a few years back and she really emphasized horsemanship and truly broke horses. She wanted the horses able to round their back & collect up, riders able to feel the horses stride so they knew when they where driving off the inside hind.....her style fit me perfectly with my background in showing.

Kristen Weaver-Brown focuses on both horsemanship and barrels. I first met her almost 7 years or so ago when she was helping Charmayne, and went to another of her clinics about a year and a half ago. She's very good and gives you plenty of one on one time.

Sharon Camarillo!! Horsemanship is what she is known for and if you don't know it when you get to the clinic! You will when you leave lol Sharon really is very big on suppleness, horsemanship and balanced riding! I've taken others clinics and she is the highest in Horsemanship!

Sharon Camarillo would be my suggestion if you want to focus on horsemanship.

I have taken Dens's and Ed's clinics as well, they do more barrel work then Sharon.

Sharon focuses the entire first day on horsemanship and has stations she works with. She also has a helper with her, so it's like 2 clinicians.
