My sweet daughter is taking me to Seattle to see George Straight this is her Mothers Day gift. My son and daughter in law will also be flying in from Houston. I haven't seen my son in 8 years so I am super excited.

Does anyone on here have any tips on visiting this city? We were also thinking of going to Vancouver BC as well. I will admit I am pretty nervous going to a big city I live in a pretty small town and cringe when I have to go to Denver. Thanks for any info.

There is soooo much to do and see in Seattle. We often go 2-3 times a year. Let's see, Pike's Street Market is a lot of fun. I'm not sure where the concert is being held (is it at the CenturyLink field? If so, Pike's Market is close by) but Edmonds, WA, is just a little ways north of Seattle, and has a really nice little Best Western motel that is always clean. And you are in walking distance of Puget Sound and can go out on the docks and see star fish and all that kind of cool stuff. They have a good restaurant right on the main street in Edmonds with the best Belgian waffles (I can't remember the name of the restaurant). And for some nice, non-western clothes in Edmonds, go to Crimson and Clover.

If you get a chance, take the ferry from Seattle to Bremerton, and you will get to see some HUGE naval destroyers...they were there when I was there last. And if you look in the water while on the ferry you can see jelly fish.

Best advice, though, is because of there being a factory in Everett, WA, do not go north on I-5 at 8 AM, or south on I-5 around 3 PM if you can help it. The traffic is horrible any ways, but even worse then.

Feel free to ask more questions as there is so much there. If you going more south, go to Trackside Pizza in Puyallup, WA, and they have nice motels in Puyallup as well. If you don't stay in Seattle proper, the cost of motels isn't as bad. And don't forget Emerald Downs, the horse racetrack! I've been to Seattle quite a bit, so I've seen and done a little bit.

Nice daughter to take you to see George Strait. :) I bet you'll have a lot of fun!

I love to eat at Ivers on the waterfront, lots of cool little shops along the waterfront also.  It is a little ways away, but Deception Pass state park is beautiful, I was born on Whidbey Island and used to go back every summer til my Grandpa passed away.

Jealous you are getting to see George Strait! Have a wonderful trip. Seattle is a fun place to visit. I lived north of there growing up and the traffic drives me crazy when I go back to visit relatives but other than that - I LOVE going there. Pike Street Market is a must, the Seattle aquarium is pretty cool, MUST go up the Space Needle, Science Center, and just exploring downtown is fun for me. If you eat downtown I love the Rock Bottom Brewery and Pub - super good food. If you can take a tour of the Mariners stadium and Century Link Field I would too. They are both super cool. Have a great time!! And Vancouver BC is just beautiful. I haven't been in years (don't forget your passport if you go into Canada) but lots of pretty stuff to see there.

Nordstroms has a shoe department on every floor!  Next to George nothing else gets close. Oh and See's Candy.
