Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | My mare Kate is grade. The woman I got her from got her at an auction when she was a yearling. She was told a story on her that she was born in Kentucky---her daddy was a thoroughbred and her momma was a qh. Something happened...either she was an accident or she wasn't what they wanted...they didn't know but she was taken from her momma too soon and was put on a different mare somewhere else and as soon as she was weaned she was sold but she was never registered in this process. I don't know if any of this is even possible or actually happens but is there any possible way of having her registered? No one ever knew who she came from or where except Kentucky. I bought her as a little 4-h project and she is really turning out to be something and I would LOVE to have some babies out of her some day but idk because she or her foals can't be registered. |

| A foal can only be registered if you know the sire and dam. Plus you have to have the breeding certificate, etc (paperwork).
NO Proof = No papers. |

Location: Chehalis, Washington | I own a 3 ish year old AQHA palomino mare that came from a nevada herd of really nice stock that was being starved to death after the husband died the wife let them starve then decided to make a quick buck sending the 40 surviving to slaughter. The slaughter guy couldnt bring himself to send this nice herd that this guy worked his lifetime for away so he contacted a local rescue. They purchased the entire herd. all the older mare came with papers, the young stock did not. There all branded as well. Recently one of the owners of the young stock sent in dna and papers did match a registered horse with AQHA.. SO now Im hopeful I can do the same with my filly! If not though Im not worried as she is super nice, and her breeding shows in her build and personality. To me papers are not a deal breaker, but for others they are it seems. Yet we cant ride papers :).
If the sire and dam of your horse are on file you "might" be able to get papers.. just contact the registery and find out! |

You will have to do the leg work, tracking down the possible names of sire(s)/dam(s)!!! Good luck!!!

| Don't want to steal this post, but I have a similar problem.
Just purchased a 3 yr old, Stud has papers, Pie in the Sky, Easy Jet. Mare is over 20 years old. The owners just didn't send in paper work when she was born, turned out to be a 19 second pole horse, won many shows, they just never ran AQHA. The mare has now had 3 babies, and they all are nice. Currently running 22 second poles with very little effort. Would love to get papers on this horse.
Any Way to do this?? |

Any Way to do this?? if both horses are papered..yes you can..but it may cost you a pretty penny and i a bit of leg work...ok i think i misunderstood.......you purchased a 3yr old and she is grade...and her mom(the 20 yr old) is grade as well(can be papered but never was)...i think i just confused my self......lmao

I would call AQHA to see about it, i would also get all the paper work together, if I could, when I make the call. I would think, as long as they have the paperwork on the mare to register her, & she'll have to be DNA'd, which is where the snag might be, anything is possible. Did they put the mare on the stallion report? There will be some expenses involved. (this is strictly my opinion)
