We just "rescued" another Aussie from city life. We won't keep him as we had just purchased an Aussie puppy, but we have several potential farm homes lined up for him. |

Location: Oz, Kansas | I love my mini. She's so full of personality but very timid, which I like. She's also quite the brat, if my daughters lab comes in before she does she'll take off & hide & I have to go look for her because she won't come when called. It's really sucked the last couple weeks when I let them out right before bed & I have to go out in arctic conditions to find her. |

Location: MI | I have friends who've had them and I've house sat for some and always enjoyed them. My boyfriend's uncle recently lost his old lab and has decided on an Aussie pup for their next dog. Wish we weren't so far away (Northern MI) or I'd see if he would be interested in rescuing.. I suppose I could ask him as you never know. But I think he's pretty set on a puppy.
Just saw the picture you posted -- he's beautiful! Why did she have to get rid of him? |

 Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | My mini, Tuffy, is my travel buddy. He goes just about everywhere with me and never causes a problem. He will lay around inside with me or go outside and follow the horses while I exercise them in the big hay fields. He gets along with every dog he's ever met except my brother's heeler/terrier mix puppy, who bites Tuffy and then gets growled at in return. I think when the puppy grows up, they'll become friends but right now Tuffy has minimal patience for Bandit.

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | GORGEOUS!!!
We have now rescued four. The first one we were intending to keep, but the situation changed when a dear friends Aussie passed of old age and we knew things were just meant to be, so he went to live them with.
Unfortunately the second one had to be euthanized due to severe aggression. We tried for 8 months to rehab him but after each of us getting bitten way to many times we had to make a safe choice for everyone.
The third one was "saved" by BHW. He too came from the city. I had just come home with my 3 year old gelding after paying a 4k vet bill for a fractured face, a 3k vet bill for cancer surgery on Gunner, moving to MO, and numerous other things. This guy broke his femur bone clean in half and I didn't have the money to help him. BHW members donated money and together we got him into a rescue in Atlanta who did his surgery and found him a home.
Then there is Jax. I coudln't say no to helping him. |

Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | Lucy is the only one I have left... She is 9, and pretty crippled up, but she is a great dog--though rather neurotic. My 2 year old son has claimed her as "my dog" and most recently has begun using her as a stand in for his calf roping dummy--I don't let him have an actual rope, for Lucy's sake, but he still uses his imagination and "ties" her up. Or he covers her with his blankies, or lays on her, and she has become the world's most patient dog, God bless her.
I lost my male a little over two years ago, and I still miss him dearly. He was the best dog ever.
I raised a few litters of puppies before Lucy's accident, and a couple of BB's have a pup of mine (I'll spare you all and not post a bunch of puppy pics). I'm getting close to where I want a pup again, since Leo's gone. My son is getting old enough to have one around and be buddies with. Now, I just have to convince my husband we need another aussie, NOT a dang hunting dog.

Thanks! He is pretty sure he's a big dog.....just yesterday I had to call him off from herding Brett's horse for me. We let him work the sheep & goats but not cattle as he's only 20 pounds. My uncle has a standard Aussie and I am so glad I got a mini because he fits in the truck a lot easier than Frost's dog would. lol. I needed a travel buddy and he's been absolutely perfect. Not sure I'll ever be without an Aussie of some size. |

| I love my aussie but he I do think he would do better if he had a job like working cattle cuz he is too smart for his own good!! So i try to keep him occupied with bones and playing as much as i can!! i can't imagine keeping one in the city!!
ETA He is only 3 and is already having some hip issues. Anyone else seeing this with their aussies? O yes and he loves the snow!!! when we get the fresh stuff he will cry and cry until we let him out to play in it and he wont come in until he's a big snow ball!!

my Winston(Winnie) is a mini aussie and is 2 years old. I just love him to pieces :) Had some trouble with aggression kind of early on. after we got him cut and had a big move from the city to a farm he's done a total 180 with his temperament. I have to watch him to make sure, because he's very intuitive of people he doesn't like and sounds the bark alarm when someone he doesn't like comes anywhere near me. He LOVES hanging out in the barn and doing obstacle courses over jumps and things! Winnie is my child :)

| We have a toy … well, she's bigger than she should be … she is timid and neurotic .. afraid of the fireworks, rain, lightening and thunderstorms and cows … however, she loves to go for car rides! She's 7 now and she seems to struggle a little bit with the walking. We had her spayed, so she never had a litter … so she's a little on the chunky side. We're working on that in hopes that it will help her joints. |
