Ok so I have noticed that it seems like a lot of girls that rodeo have beautiful long locks of hair. Is there anything you do to it to get it to grow longer or stay stronger??? It seems like mine takes forever to grow!!! For those of you that have beautiful long luscious locks I have hair envy!!! I also love short dos but I just don't think I could pull them off!!

My hair dresser believes in biotin.  I haven't used it yet, but she had her hair short, started taking biotin and it has grown a lot.

It might also honestly be hair extensions. You can get them fairly good priced nowadays.

I've always had long thick hair.  When I get it cut she takes the split ends off and thins it out like crazy.  I always look like a member of an 90's hairband as it is but if its not thinned its even worse.

To some extent it is just genetics. A good shampoo and conditioner helps as does leaving hair in its natural state (ie not blow drying or coloring it to death).

This is what I believe. There are a lot of people who dye their hair too much. Along with that they blow dry, straighten, curl, etc. multiple days out of the week. One solution is to put in a light mousse and foam rollers at night (for a curly look). As for straight I'm unsure, possibly a wax or gel? Also, I braid my hair on days that I don't want to style it. It's the same belief that is used to grow out horses tails.

I usually have really long hair (to my belt) but my hair is thin. The ends break really easy and it never keeps a curl. I cut it for the 2nd time ever during Christmas to shoulder length (just long enough for a pony tail). It is super straight when long and when short, has a cute wave and some bounce. I'm on the fence on whether to grow it back out or keep it short.

I use really $$$ shampoo and conditioner to keep it healthy. Deep conditioning is really important too, but I hate to and usually don't. I also take prenatal vitamins, they are great for your fingernails and hair.

I've always had really long hair! Long story short I fried my hair really bad so I chopped it off...has taken awhile but I'm finally getting it back to the way I like it. I try not to wash it everyday. I feel like my hair is better when I go a couple days without which is sometimes hard because I have super oily hair but I put baby powder on my roots and off I go! I also try not to straighten, blow dry or curl too much. I love braiding my hair and I like to use headbands a lot. I've really been trying to find cute ways to do my hair without heat.

I envy everyone that has long hair!  I have very natural curly hair that is fine and thin, when I try to grow it out it is frizzy no matter what.  The best length for me is just above the shoulders and layered.  I only dry the top and then use gel on the rest and leave it alone.  It is kinda opposite to what most people would think but in the summer I have to have a touch more length so I can get it off of my neck or else it really curls and hold the sweat.  In the winter I can get by with less length.
At almost 52 yrs. old I think I have given up on ever having long hair.  Makes me sad!

Thanks guys!! SO many ideas to try! What kinds of shampoos, conditioners, and deep conditioners/treatments do you use?

I struggle because I have a lot of hair but it is really fine. Every time someone new does my hair they are amazed at how much I have but its so fine I suppose I don't look like I have what I have. And it seems like it takes forever to grow but maybe that is because it is so fine it breaks a lot.

I agree if you want to grow out your hair you shouldn't style with heat and what not everyday. If I did the full on curl everyday I probably wouldn't have any hair!

My hair is thin but I use a hair, skin and nail supplement with extra biotin, 5000 mcg. I've tried others but this one, with that much extra biotin, had made my hair grow like crazy. I haven't trimmed it since the beginning of July and have no split ends. I dont use high end shampoo or conditioner but make sure to use the conditioner to make for easier brushing. I also rarely wear it up.

I have fine hair with just enough curl to make it nappy. I've never been able to grow it super long and keeping it highlighted makes it have to stay about shoulder length to keep from breaking off. I hate my hair.

I used to have long hair (clear to my waist) and I didn't do anything special. But from what I have read is everyone's hair is different and they have different lengths they grow to and then it kind of starts thinning out (mine was waist length). But skin, hair, and nails vitamins do a good job. My hair grows fast and is pretty thick, so it didn't need much help.

Don't over wash or over style...take biotin yes but hair needs protein ,don't skimp...deep condition, I use natural conditioners including olive oil, mayo, even beer...I don't go as long as I used to and my hair is a shoulder length thick pile!!! So find a cut that enhances the texture and your looks!!!

I started taking flax seed oil a few yrs ago to help lower cholesterol & the added benefit was my hair went crazy growing & getting thicker!  My hairdresser can't believe how fast it grows & the weirdest part is, I have new hair where I NEVER have had it - in the "widow's peak" area of my scalp.  She is amazed how much new hair I have every time I come in for a cut.  I "had" to let it grow out cuz I could not afford to get it cut every 2-3 wks to keep a short style.  Euchee - don't give up hope - I am 61!!!
wanted to add:  My mom used to have thick hair when she was young & since her 40's or 50's, it got really thin - & my dad is bald - so if it's genetics only, I shouldn't have all this hair!  LOL

Redkin is good but dried my hair out I use pureology. Don't over color it or blow dry and keep the ends split free :

I have this crazy curly long thick mane...it has it's own life. I only shampoo it once a week, I use just conditioner the rest of the time. I don't use a comb or a brush, fingers only. A few times a year, I get the ends trimmed, but only 1/2" or so. I get a deep conditioning done whenever my hair gets to fuzzy, that means it's too dry. I also don't use anything but a cloth scrunchii for my pony tails. A lot of the time it's balled up under a baseball cap. I leave it alone as much as possible, don't blow dry, color, straighten, curl, etc. just Moroccan oil and mousse and out the door.
