Has anyone resealed the roof of their trailer them selves? What products & procedures did you use? Thanks for your help!

I don't know if "resealed" is the right term for what we did.  Our aluminum Sundowner had a pretty bad leak in the roof.  When I got up there I could see where there is what looks like a gasket or sealer at the seams.  It looked like it was dry rotted and flaking out from under the seam.  It's a '94 so it was about 11 years old at the time.

What I did was purchase a product like the spray rubber stuff you see the commercials for, and a silver tape product that is for sealing leaks.

I cleaned everything with soap and water scrubbed everything very clean and removed anything loose I could get to move.
I sprayed it with the spray on rubber stuff.  I let that dry 24 hours.  Then I used the tape product.  I dont' know what it's called, but it looks like aluminum on one side but the under side looks like roof tar.  It has a wax paper on the tar part.  You peal off the waxy paper and lay it down over the seam and the rubber product.

I did that in 2005 and we have not had a leak since.  I was up there the other day and I need to replace the aluminum tape in some places but don't have any leaks so far, just looks like it is starting to peal up.

Total cost was about $100.  The spray rubber stuff was like $20 a can and I think I used about 2 cans but the tape was about $25 a roll and I know I used 2 rolls and I only did the dressing room part, not the horse part.  Mine is a small 3h with a 4ft. short wall dressing room.

Good Luck

We did try something for sealing the seams that we got from an RV supply place.  But I don't remember the name, it leaked.  I did get the tape stuff from an RV place though.  I found 1 roll but had to order the other from the internet.
