Who makes the best rope halters? I have been using these http://www.nrsworld.com/wigwam-halter-company/wigwam-deluxe-tied-ha... but my last two have broke in the same place on two different horses just spooking and pulling back at the trailer. What's your favorite?

I make my own and just love them!! I found a video on Youtube on how to tie them, and went from there... I use my boyfriends old ropes to make the lead rope... They are super strong and you can make them as big as you want and in what ever colors you like.

I use a lot of the silver tip halters. There is another brand similar to them. So far I have had good luck.

I'm not sure on what the actual brand is but www.coolhorse.com has a sale on rope halters every now and then that they put them on for $8 a piece and I usually will buy 3-4 of them when that happens.  They have held up just as well or better than some of the more expensive rope halters that I have purchased.

Clinton Anderson. Have used his rope hatters and lead ropes. Very strong and excellent quality.

Half Circle Ranch! http://www.halfcircleranch.com/store/pc/Halters-c2.htm  They are awesome quality rope (the same as Clinton Anderson and Pat Parelli only less expensive) and she can make them in any color you want. We have 3 of her rope halters and leads and LOVE them. I will definitely buy more in the future.

I really like the classic equine rope halters with the braided nose, and they aren't expensive either.

I've since switched to leather halters

I like the Clinton Anderson Halters. They are high but I have used the same one for 5 yrs now. The Knots on the nose really help a horse not to pull against it.

clinton anderson are the best, the smaller diameter rope and the extra nose knots discourage pulling back and snotty behaviour. With a pull back problem, you should address that issue. even if you get an unbreakable halter, something is going to give which might be your hardware on your trailer :/. I suggest his halter, lead and the long 22 ft lead as well, and the blocker tie ring, then you can help retrain that horse to stand there and not pull back as much. mule tape halters are pretty much unbreakable, but they are soft with no knots to discourage pulling. hope that helps.

Exactly, I LOVE them they work great and they have different pressure points than any other rope halter I've used and they seem to send clear messages to the horse

Yes! The ones with the knots on the nosepiece are great. They also have a long lead that can come in handy. Not sure on the price though.

Honestly the best rope halter I've bought was a cheap Mustang brand. I know it was under $20. It has knots on the nose similar to a Clinton. T-Bo has tested it a few times and quickly learned he can't break it like a regular nylon halter and lead. With a normal halter, he would pull back until it broke. With this one IF he pulls back (nowadays it's because something legitimately spooked him) he will give up quickly and think about it before deciding it's easier to stand quietly. LOVE IT!
