So I managed to qualify for NBHA World in my first "year" competing. It was in NC 00, so not really a huge accomplishment, but I'm still pretty happy about my very first buckle. LOL

What do you like better on your buckles? I know you only get so many characters. I'm torn between my first name & my gelding's barn name and putting just hid full registered name. And then of course the division and district.

Just wondering what others have liked better for display/wear.

Thanks!

Most of my buckles have my name on them since I didn't get to decide. The one I just got yesterday has my geldings registered name on it & I think it looks awesome.

I was thinking of doing that. I think it would be nicer to have if I were to make a nice display for his photos and buckles down the road.

Years ago I won an all around on a gelding I used to own.  I put his registered name on it since he's the one that did all the work.  Its my favorite buckle to this day.  The rest sit in boxes.

Just make sure you always buy your World qualifier buckle! I didn't my first few because "There are so many more to be won!". Now that precious pet horse has long been buried, and I really wish I had the buckles to commemorate our efforts!!! I always make sure that if I'm really feeling like the horses or I did great, I take that win money and buy a buckle!! It truly is a memorial that will last long after I'm dead! Wahoo for buckles! Congrats on your first one! If you like your horses registered name, put that! My boy was a grade gelding, it would have just said, "Topper".

I wouldn't say it's not an accomplishment. Buy your buckle and enjoy it! I would put my horse's name that I run him under if it were me. That way I could remember what horse I won it with. :

I do horses name every single time.  You will appreciate it so much more if you are ever unfortunate to lose a great one.

You have two banners to work with, so you could do both your name and your horses, but I prefer horses name, then the district and divison on the other.

Do they come engraved or do you have them engraved yourselves?  Never heard of that before.

Me neither.  The ones I have just have the event.........not like they know who is going to win them before you get there.  I guess these are different.

I think when you qualify for worlds you have the option of buying it or not, but if you decide to buy the buckle, you get to customize it.

What do you have to do to qualify for the worlds?  Why is it "worlds" plural and not "world" singular.  I'm learning today.

I'm not an nbha member, but I think you need to have a certain amount of points or be a certain ranking in nbha points standings for one of the divisions.

People use the incorrect plural term because everyone else does.  Now that it has been mentioned, I seem to recall getting those notices to sell me buckles in the past.  NO way am I going to pay for one.  If I am recollectin' correctly, you have to buy it.

I never bought into the qualifier stuff.  I'll keep my money.  The one that I won that I put my horses name on it was for a year end all around and I could pick out my own buckle.  All the rest of my buckles were purchased ahead of time by the committees so it just says what I won.

You have to be the top 4 or 5 in your district year end points in the division you qualify in.

Edited to add that it looks like the top 7 in my district were qualifiers. Not sure if it depends on how large your district is.

Thanks!  We don't have many NBHA races around here so I just didn't know.  I think the word "worlds" is so weird, all the breed associations seem to use it anymore.

I thought it was actually called the "worlds" show, because everyone in my area says it that way... lol!
I run IBRA as a member. I've ran at NBHA events but I am not a member.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats. And thank you for your opinions.

I qualified for the 2014 NBHA World Show. I call it "World" not Worlds, but some might call it differently.

I won the 4D in my district. The top 5 were qualified for the World, due to district size. Some send up more. 5 is the minimum.

And yes, you have the choice to buy the buckle. Just like you have the choice to buy a Finals Qualifier buckle AT the World show. I like the choice, so I get to choose what I want on my buckle, not just get what everyone else has.
