Prayers to the family. Although I didn't know them personally I know the last name. We Jr. Rodeoed together, she was a few age classes behind me. So sad to see one go so young.
PLEASE everyone, if you sleep in your trailer, PLEASE make sure to do regular maintenance on the heaters, Co2 sensors and ventilation. It seems like every year we read far to many of these tragic stories. |

Location: Sperry, OK | I worry about this so much.. our trailer is total electric, no propane at all for anything, and I still wanted my husband to install a carbon monoxide monitor. He looked at me with the dumbest look and said "really?" I wasn't thinking clearly, I just KNOW you are supposed to have them and wasn't putting together that electricity does not produce gas... Such a tragedity. This also happened close to us a few years ago, and one of the men in the trailer worked with my dad. |

I know of a tragedy that happened where the victims were plugged in and the exhaust from the trailer running a generator next to them was somehow drawn into their trailer. A carbon monoxide detector is a must even when plugged in especially when trailers are crammed tight at shows. |

That's scary. My trailer didn't even have a CO2 detector when I ordered it. I never thought anything about it. It has a propane detector but no CO2. I bought one this winter. My hubby will have it installed before my first trip in the Spring. Many prayers for the family. Gol she was so young. |

If there is no air movement outside the trailer the carbon monoxide buildup can stay in your trailer. Many years ago some people died in their truck camper from gas buildup. They left their gas stove on for warmth, had left a window open, but the carbon monoxide stayed in the trailer due to no air circulation. |

| The ONLY thing that will insure you safety is a functioning carbon monoxide detector. They are relatively cheap and can be bought at WalMart, Home Depot, etc..... Most have a test button on them, test it before you lay down to go to sleep. Change your batteries frequently. If yours is hard wired into your LQ, it won't work if your trailer batteries are down, therefore I suggest having a battery operated one too. I had an all electric trailer several years ago and started feeling it coming on so I opened the door and got out. Nausea and major headache are symptoms. The fumes were coming from a truck that was idleing right by my trailer. The fumes had to be coming up the shower drain. A cracked window won't necessarily let enough fresh air in fast enough so please don't rely on that. The mother and daughter that died at Joseys one year were very close to me so this is a subject dear to my heart. I was fortunate to be awake when the fumes took over my own trailer and I know a few others that have barely escaped the same disaster. My heart aches for the young lady that passed away and I am so thankful the young man is doing better. Thank you Jesus!

Glad to hear he is doing well. I was wondering today how he was doing. Thoughts and prayers with both families. |
