I have a tb gelding that wont get up...thought of colic but not showing signs of belly ache. He tries to get up but seems too weak and lays back down. Any thoughts??? Vet should be here in about 45 min.

Sounds like a weak horse, I would say wait to see what the Vet has to say about this.

I'm guessing he has something lodged in his throat or stomache. Keep an eye on him and let him lay. Your vet will have better answers.

Check with your vet but may be neurological.

What has his water intake been like? Has he been drinking?

What's his gum color like? Any gut sounds?

Hes been drinking and eating fine. This is the first he hasnt eaten his feed. No gut sounds and he doesnt act like it hurts. For the past 30 min he hasnt moved. His breathing seems normal. Every now and then he has like a twitch with his head and starts kicking his feet

One of my mares is acting similar today.  Didn't finish her grain, didn't touch her morning hay.  I gave her some warm electrolyte water which she eagerly drank then she ate her hay.  After that she laid down for longer than normal as well.  She has good gut sounds and has been pooping as well.

I think this is extreme cold weather and frozen water is getting to them.  We are not used to this is South Texas.  Please let me know what your vet thinks.  Good luck.

is he in out of the weather?  if not I would try to warm him. take temp or wait for vet. could be he slipped and has swelling around spinal column. hopefully not a broken back or hip or shoulder. the kicking bothers me. Keep us updated as you can.

There SHOULD be gut sound, if you won't get hurt stick your ear right on his "belly button" and listen (if you don't have a stethoscope).

He gets put up at night but during the day he can come and go as he pleases. I wish I could at least get him up to move him where its warm but cant get him up. I checked him out and dont see any injuries and pressed all over and he didnt seem to mind like there wasnt any pain anywhere. Ive seen quite a few in my day colic but never anything like this

I hear some rumbling when I put my ear to him. Looks like he peed on himself and he pooped. The poop looks normal. At first he would try to get up but its like he had no balance now he just laying there. Wont move at all

Oh please be carefull of placing your head on his belly if hes kicking his legs around he might kick you in the head, just wait for the Vet would be my advice.

Very true STPG!! If he's thrashing or you even THINK you might get hurt don't do it!!
