Location: Buffalo, TX | Yes, we are in trouble...low information voters not only voting for Obama, but uninformed on local and state issues, thus voting in representatives and senators who go to Washington and represent special interest groups instead of the voters who elected them....entitlement society....buying votes with "freebies" for all who won't work to earn them....and people totally ignorant of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights who really don't care if they lose their individual freedoms because they are comfortable being taken care of by the government.....it's a long, slow path to destroying this country, and they are absolutely counting on voter apathy and ignornace to get them there.... |

Because many, not all, of the available curriculums are aligning with Common Core standards. And talk is that the SATs and ACTs are going to be aligning in the future. If you don't know what Common Crap, I mean Core is, do a little research. Those of us with children being subjected to it are Not Happy. My kids are in a private school and implementation started this year. All over the country, teachers are leaving over it. Parents are pulling kids out and homeschooling because of it. Some states are rejecting it, thankfully, due to grassroots organization and very vocal parents and educators. It's developmentally inappropriate, it's scripted one size fits all teaching dumbed down on one hand and asking for unrealistic thinking skills for the very young on the other. It's ill-conceived, ill-written, and there are indoctrinating things hidden within the daily work sheets that will make your hair stand on end.
Follow the money. This mess is rotten to the Core, literally. |

Now that stop and frisk has been ended by the new Bizarro Mayor of New York. I wonder how long it will be before the crime rate starts rising faster then the people of Colorado that are getting high? |

I feel that the majority of Americans want the same things and could operate as one. Unfortunately, the extremist Republicans and Democrats have a stranglehold on this country and on the people who could actually DO something. Alllll part of the plan, you see. Keep those sheeple voting and surpress good ideas and hard working people by convincing them that there are only two sides. I think a lot of Americans (myself included) feel that perverbial gun barrel to the head...."Republican or Democrat/Red or Blue/Conservative or Liberal". There is no other choice, apparently. Now it seems that working together is cliche, compromising is for pansies, and finding reasonable solutions for ever pressing issues is for squares. I know, I know, pat my head, give my a lollipop, and tell me to go play with my toys.
We call ourselves all kinds of things. We're driving a wedge the size of Antarctica right down the middle of our country. Dem/Repub...Red/Blue....Liberal/Conservative....how about AMERICAN for ONCE. |

Thank you for your insight, I need to research this and see how it applies in my state. Homeschooling is starting to be a real option for us, as well. |

Wait a minute. You yourself have said that the Republican party needs work. I wasn't using "extremist" in reference to the video (I agreed with what was being said). I was using it in general terms. Perhaps this was the wrong thread to vent about my disdain for the never ending mudslinging contest that is Republican vs. Democrat politics. LOL
You cannot sit there and tell me that the Republican party is all rainbows and butterflies and free of any kind of corruption. To me, an extremist is someone who is only looking out for himself and his "special" interests. It is someone who doesn't give a crap about anyone else. It happens on both sides. Do you disagree with that? Are there not slimeballs in the Republican party? I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm just curious.
In short, I do NOT believe that someone who is Pro God, Pro Life, Pro Guns, etc is an extremist if that's what you were asking or implying. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | OK, I got it....just checking! I do think the GOP is infested with too many moderates who are only interested in conservatism when it serves to preserve their oplitical career and the kushy benefits and perks. It is possible to cull out some solid conservatives and libertarians from the bunch, but even some of them leave me scratching my head sometimes. The GOP ought to be aggressive and they need to promote the real conservative agenda. Nothing is more troublesome to me than hypocrisy, especially when it comes from a so-called conservative politician. What frosts my ass is the politician who promises to fight to the death for lower taxes- and then turns around to vote for the very spending projects that make tax cuts impossible. The GOP is full of these pigs. Because of these things I am not a Republican, but I'm stuck with the current bunch, which is still a helluva lot better than any liberal-progressive. All of that aside, at least there are conservatives out here amongst the citizens who hold steadfast in their conservative principles. We are unafraid to openly and harshly criticize any Republican when he/she deserves it. You rarely see that coming from the left....they all march in lock step behind their liberal leaders. I consider that a sign of a lack of intellect, independent thinking, and pride. |
