Yet another bit question
Location: The Cowboy State
So I put my horse in a tender touch by Sharon Carmillo a couple of years ago. He was like riding a fire eating dragon. But he is not this way anymore and I think that the TT is too much for him and need to try something different. He still preforms well in it, I just think that it is too much. Really too much when running poles. I exercise him in a Jr Cow dogbone all week and like how he work. It did not give me the bend/lift that the TT did. But I ran him yesterday in the JR Cow. Complete runaway!! No brakes. He worked the weave in the poles good, but 0 brakes/rate going down and coming home. Any ideas.?

If you use a chain curb on the TT, try wraping the curb with vet wrap.

What other bits do you have that you could try?

Do you have the short shank or long? I run my horse in the long shank with a leather curb. If there is a chain curb, he is a nightmare because it is too much for him. Try the short shank with leather curb and see how he does.

My sensitive horse likes the Myler Neil Merrill gag with a smooth mouth. I started out with a leather curb but have her in a loose chain now.

I love the chain mouth. It is one of my favorites and I ride a lot of soft mouthed horses in it. If you need the gag action this is a nice bit. It is light BUT still has some whoa to it. This bit also comes in a variety of mouth pieces.
If you don't need the gag action I like this bit. Mine doesn't have the copper rings on the chain but this picture shows the basic principal of the mechanics.
