Location: The birthplace of Honest Abe | I suggest going to sports shoe place that has the computer that you walk on and it shows where your pressure points are and it will suggest the type of shoes you need. |

| Asics, Saucony, and Mizuno are all great brands.
I highly recommend hitting up a running specialty shop that can analyze how your foot lands when you stride out. Each "good" shoe maker has different shoes for people who step different ways ... For example, I land more on the outside of my foot and it rolls in as I take off from the stride. A shoe with a little different cushion on one side of the shoe helps me land and take off in a flat stride.

ETA - I run roughly 8 miles/ week currently and in the summer hit between 15 - 20/ week. Almost all of it is on gravel/dirt roads and I have one set of shoes that are are not labeled for trail but have decent tred if I need it.

But right now their lineup does not impress me and I am having trouble with the last pair I bought. A friend has recommended a store in Springfield that can find the right shoe. |

| I have a pair of Under Armour's that I love to wear. Super light weight, I haven't gotten any shin splints from them and very breathable. I wear mine on trails, when I run the obstacle courses and mud runs, but they do let everything in(dirt, mud, water, sand) but wash up great. Had a pair of Nike Air Max and they gave me shin splints within a couple weeks. I also have a pair of ZOOT ultra tempo's that I love but I wore the rubber off the toe when I was doing Insanity. |

I'm liking the way Mizuno and Brooks look but need to try them on. I always have to have different types. I can't stand using my trail shoes on streets and vice versa. Right now all I need is a street shoe. |

| I like Brooks pureflow but I recently bought a pair of Saucony trail shoes which have the extra protection in the toe because I run on a lot of rocky/uneven terrain. I am fighting a stress fracture in my 4th metatarsal so I am taking some time off but I have my sights on running a 5k this spring! Anyway, going to a running store that specializes in running where they can have you run on a treadmill and try out shoes is your best bet in finding something that fits you! I don't prefer one type of shoe over the other, just something that will work for my legs and feet! |

| My absolute favorites are the Asics Nimbus series. I've had brooks, saucony, nike, etc. I recently started using compression sleeves and ran/walked a 1/2 marathon. The least sore spot was my calves, where I wore the sleeves.
Ditto on the advice to go to a running specialty store. I went and a bright pink pair of asics was recommended and I was stressed because I didn't want hot pink shoes … (they were the nimbus) … I love those shoes now! |

| I ran 1/2 marathon in Nov. I had a hard time finding something, had some ascics and I could do short runs in those but after about 5 miles they killed the outside of my right foot. I ended up in Brooks I believe they are the Adrenaline loved them . Great road shoes good for long and short runs. |

| Everything I've ever heard is that if you are going to be serious you need to go to a running shop and have them fit you for shoes.
I tend to like Adidas. Nike's kill me, arch is in the wrong spot. I'm not even close to a serious runner, but I think it would be fun to be fitted. My friend is a serious runner and he gets new shoes about every 3-4 months. |

LOL … me too! They become regular street shoes and then make their way to barn shoes! With as expensive as they are … I gotta get my money's worth!! |

I have the same issue. Outside looks fab, inside is squished like a bug. So barn shoes and mowing grass shoes they become! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Running tennis shoes I wear Saucony. I use to constantly have hip pain and or knee pain in most of the other brand names, even new with good quality added insoles. I tried a pair of Saucony's , one because I had seen them advertised in a lot of running mags and 2 because they were on sale, LOL!!! Noticed after about a month I hadn't complained one time after a longer run that my hips hurt the next day so I started only buying them. This Christmas my fiancé gave me money to play with, I ended up in a shoe store for runners and they asked if I wanted my feet and stride analyzed, what the heck right? So he watched me walk barefoot down the barefloor, carpet too, and then run. He pulled down several pair of different makes of shoes, New Balance, Brookes, Adidas, and a pair of Saucony. Same thing, watched me walk and run down both the barefloor and the carpeted floor. Each shoe was a pretty good fit, felt darn good, apparently my left ankle rolls in and almost touches the ground barefoot which I had no idea...Then he had me try on the Saucony and without him knowing that is what I wear usually he confirmed that that brand suited my foot and stride best. Apparently I lucked out finding the best suited shoe for myself thru trial and error but I highly recommend if you are really thinking about getting into running to have that foot and stride analysis done. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I don't run but I try to walk everyday and the only shoe that works for my flat feet are the Brooks Ghost. They have been rated a top running shoe with the Ghost 5 and 6 being on the top. |

With my history of old injuries I think I need a lil more then the average person. I'll have to take a loot at insoles too....wonder if we should be using new insoles when shoes wear out instead of mowing the grass with them? |
