I've always just eye balled my horses blanket size for sheets and coolers etc...
But i wanted to be sure before placing my order so tonight i measured both my horses and found a pretty big difference between what i thought they were... And what they actually measured out to be...

Has this happened to anyone else?

My Mare who wears a 76" blanket now, which is a little roomy... Measured out to be 62".

My gelding who's wearing an 80" (also roomy) measured out to be 72"

Im just really worried i'm going to order the wrong size.

My mare measures an 80, wears an 80 turnout blanket that is definitely not too big and has an 80 PHT. I first got a 78 PHT and it was a little too small but was lucky enough to find someone who had an 80 but needed a 78. Measure your horse from center of chest, around point of shoulder to point of buttocks. My mare doesn't look like there's any way she should wear a blanket that large, but she does.

My horses that wear 75" blankets wear 78" PHTs.  I have a mare that wears an 81" blanket and she wears an 82" PHT sheet.  My blankets are Weatherbeetas and I know that Weatherbeetas tend to run large.

What kind of blanket? a 62 is a pony blanket normally...I think we bought the POA a 64 cause she was chubby but about 13.2 hands. My mare that stands 15.1 wears a 74 or 76 depending on the brand, my gelding is 15.3 and kind of like MOntanta he is High Wide and Handsome, he wears a 78-80, then my monster mare is 16.3 and she wears an 82 but they usually aren't long enough for her from top to bottom so last time I bought her a Big Fella so her belly didn't freeze.

Its been a long day, maybe i should have had another cup of coffee before measuring lol

My mare is 15.1 her 76 Is a little roomy but i wouldnt say its too big. I thought she'd measure between 72" and 74"

My gelding is right around 16hh hes pretty stout, and is wearing and 80" now. I thought he'd be a 78"-80"

Both my horses wear 78 winter blankets. I got a 78 pht and it fits (no room to spare), would prefer an 80 probably and will order an 80 next time. I kept the 78 simply bc, both my horses I have now are big. my mare is 16 + and solid and my young gelding is 16.1 and still growing. If I ever get anything smaller in size, the 78 will probably be a little big :)
I do know if you order one and it is just the complete wrong size, they will let you return and get a different size. Amazing to work with and LOVE the products

My gray horse wears an 80 blanket (I measured him several years ago and that's what we ordered so it must be what he measures) and the PHT blanket I bought for him was an 80. It fit great and was just a little roomy on my bay horse who would probably need a 78 blanket if he'd wear one. I didn't notice a difference in sizes between the PHT blanket and other blankets.

My horses wear Weatherbeetas also and found they run basically the same as Rockinas.

What brand blankets are you currently using?  The height of a horse means nothing when ordering blankets.  A short horse can be long backed or short backed and the same for a tall horse.

Please measure her again.  62 is pony size
I prefer to take hay string tie them together and pull tight.  Then take the haystrings starting at the center of the chest around point of shoulder to center of the tail.  Mark the hay string
Then put the tape measure on the hay string and measure.
The problem with eyeballing is there are 4 different ways to measure a horse and going by a winter blanket size usually means you get the wrong size blanket

Weatherbettas measure to the end of the side of the horse therefore it will usually be about 3" shorter than the measurement to the center of the tail
