Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | So I've been at some barrel races and I've had a few people ask if I thought about selling my mare and I just say no.
But it's got me thinking about what I would price her at, if I did want to sell her. I've only ever sold 2 horses in my life and that was about 6 years ago and they weren't worth much. So I have no idea.
She is 8 this year, is grade(said to be tb/qh). Has no gate issues, would make a great youth horse, very automatic and consistent. I've never had her take a lame step in the 5 years I've owned her, easy keeper, good for farrier, vet, dentist, chiro, hauls like a champ, sometimes pulls back so we loosely tie her, has a slight pigeon toe but it's never caused problems, she is consistently in the 1D/ top of the 2D at smaller shows. 2D at bigger shows but is contentiously getting faster.
**i am not advertising her for sale**
I don't know if I'm breaking any rules here, but if I am, please let me know.

Yeah...that's her one downfall. She is such a nice horse, I bet she would have nice papers but no way to know. |

| I agree no papers conformational flaws and quirky, top price would be 5000.
Unless she is pulling checks at tough shows. Also of she is running low 17's on regulation then her price would be up. |

Honestly it would depend on who you were selling her to and where she's run at. Also, who was selling her. Prices seem to be all over the place around my area. |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | In my area, there are people asking off the wall prices for nothing horses. This woman, for instance, has a Morgan/QH and a TWH/QH. Conformationally OK. No papers on either. No special training. Middle aged (13&16). Trail horses. That's all they know. They are for trail riding only. And she wants $4,500 for one and $5,500 for the other. They're still for sale though, going on 6 months.
It's all in what people are willing to pay. I bought my mare for $800 because they couldn't locate her papers. I went into in figuring I would always have a "grade" mare depending on if they ever found papers. They did a few months later. Hancock, Driftwood, Native Dance and a few other good oldies. And she can run and turn a barrel too. She's only been hauled a handful of times. Has clocked in the mid 17's with room for improvement, on a standard pattern. If I look at comparable horses, they go for around $6,000 here. |

Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | I'm thinking people obviously can't be turned off by her conformation because of people coming to me asking about her. To me, papers don't really matter unless I was in it for breeding which I would love to breed her some day because she is so nice but it prob won't happen. And I honestly don't think I would ever sell her...she was the first horse I've ever trained myself and she's so nice to ride and run and I have nieces who could use her as youth in the next few years...it was just a thought as to what I would price her at if I chose to. I believe the arena I normally run at is standard and she is usually between 16.5 and 17. She is one of those that the more you run her in a day, the faster she is. I usually cruise her thru an exhibition and then run ladies and open. She is definitely a free runner that only needs a small check at the first and the rest you kick and hold on! |

3 different people have asked about her in the last couple of years. Once someone asked my dad while I was out warming up and he said no way and that was it. The other times I'm caught off guard that I don't think before I say no lol. |

Exactly what I was going to say. People are funny about no papers. |

Location: Carpenter, WY | When I don't have any idea about pricing I go by the top dollar that I would pay for the horse if I were to go out and buy it :) More often than not, I seem to price them too cheap for what they are though so don't know if that would work for you or not LOL

Grade to me is a deal breaker. It's hard enough to sell some registered horses sometimes. |

You may want to double check to see if this is a standard pattern. I think the world record is a 16.5xx on a standard. |

If she is running those times on a TRUE standard pattern, she is worth ALOT. |
