Location: Viola, IL | I actually have a friend, whom had a roping gelding bred exactly like that! They loved him. He was quiet, consistent. You could pull him out of the pasture and he'd ride off, throw a kid on him even. Rope a few cows, and throw a kid on him, too. He was great. He was very skillful and easily trainable. Stayed sound, never required maintenance. |

Location: Montana | If I knew my husband wouldn't kill me for getting another horse, I would be asking you where she is! My parents had a Ok. Star bred when I was a kid, he was a freakin freight train when he ran. First time Mom ever ran him was at a rodeo when her regular horse got hurt she hand galloped him through then opened him up on the way home, announcer said girls you better watch out if she ever lets him run the pattern. The only reason we sold him was because I was little and he didn't like little things, dogs etc running around his legs. He had been abused before Mom had gotten him. |

Location: Arkansas | LOVE THEM!! Easy to train, full of try, cow, speed and brain. Can't say enough about them. My dad won over 70k roping on a 5 year old in one year. We then began buying a few more, and he won the Wildfire Business Man's roping on another. Now, they are the predominant breeding on our places. They have taken to the barrel pattern and love it. They act like they are getting to go play and are excited to do it. I have a Starbert/ Little Johnny Dial bred 4 year old right now that loves everything we put in front of him.. Calves, steers, barrels.
They are full of personality. They are always in your back pocket, looking over your shoulder.. I think ours think they are human half of the time. You can't go wrong in my opininion! Good luck! |

Location: Bastrop, TX | Here's mine. I absolutely LOVE this horse. BUT.....he does have a few goofy quirks......WAY WAY too fast for me to run barrels on him.....right now he's a pasture ornament until I get some time and consistency to start riding him again. He's been trained and ran by a Pro and she did really well with him, but he got hurt, brought him home and he's completely sound now. That was 2 yrs ago. I've ridden him bareback with a halter and lead rope more than I have saddled. He's fun....just has a few issues but nothing real bad....

Ester you described mine to a T. He was started as a heeler before I bought him at 3. He was running awesome and paid to Ft Smith when he got hurt a couple of months before. I think he could go back to roping really quick and do barrels as well. Wish I could find the right person for him, I'd sell him. Only because I can't do him justice being home only every other weekend and he's sitting. He's has a riot, funny personallity....well heck look at him standing in the trough....he shoved the hay out into the mud so he could stand in the dry trough.....that's just how he is.

That is exactly how ours are! My Dad says that we don't know what all Hummer puts him through in a day! My mom is starting to run one of the finished heel horses and she is scared to death that he will find all of his gears. Once he does, she will just be along for the ride. They know their jobs and will go do them. My colt tore his bucket off the panel and was carrying it around the pasture in his mouth last week! Everywhere he went, so did his bucket!
I entered mine in Fort Smith and he is not where I would like for him to be right now. But, I have said since I bought him as a yearling that this was my goal. However, in the past year, I have lost my Grandad, my Grandma, an aunt and an uncle. He didn't get put on the pattern when I had planned but I had him being ridden through the fall where they were doctoring calves and branding on him. They called him CK (calf killer) because he stopped so hard and would go after them with so much cow. He is solid on the pattern and hauls great. It will just be getting the run in him and all that comes with it. I am nervous about it and hope that he will come on like his brothers have. But, I am realistic. And, this was my goal to enter so I am stepping out of my comfort zone and doing it regardless of the cards that life has dealt. It just may be that he will be a stronger derby horse. How old is yours? |

| bobbyjosocks-where did you get your gelding? My gelding has the CC Starbert also and I want to know more about where he came from. Beautiful looking horse you have!

Ha.....Mine has gone thru more water and feed buckets than you can imagine. He LOVES to play in the water. If he can get his feet in it he's happy, if he can lay down and roll in it....well he will.....good luck with yours..... |

Here is mine!
Ours could be twins.....
I got him from a guy that owns his moma and his sire. From up near Dallas but he sends all of his colts down to a place near Gonzales to get broke and started on Roping. He had a full sister to mine that was a couple of years younger that I wanted so bad....but she got hurt out in the pasture during a storm and had to be put down.
He will be 9 yrs old this year. But when he got hurt twice by the same trainer I brought him home. His last MRI was over a year ago and he's completely sound. NOW I just have to grow some and get brave and start him back if I don't sell him. Just can't decide....I love his goofy butt.....lol

Found out my horse goes back to a horse on Fisher Ranch-Starbert Champ. How cool!

My uncle raises a lot of foundation bred horses (Bert, Leo, Wimpy). He hasn't done much but collect them but he has some good bloodlines. One of the studs that he raised is standing at Fisher Ranch now. |

| I have a Starbert bred filly that I love, I like her so much I've been looking to buy a second horse bred similar to her. That has proved to be a challenge so I plan to go to Fisher ranches production sale this year!
