Anything I should know to keep him from becoming a "big bad pit"??  His mother and 4 puppies were abandoned in a trailer house, I got him from the pound.  I'd guess he's not over 10 weeks and some kind of hound mix.. skinny with a big wormy belly, poor guy.  He's a total lover!

Anyone else unable to post a picture in their threads?  Mine won't show up and then the extra dialog box won't close either so I lose my entire posts...  anyway, attaching a pic instead!

He is a cutie. Thanks for taking care of him :) I'm seeing a Ralphie or a Georgie :)

Any pit I've raised from a puppy has never given me any trouble. They are always happy and love to play and go on adventures. I've disciplined them early on and they all did fine. I love a pit.

so cute! Pits are naturally lovey dogs... big cuddle bugs. They can be even be great around horses if you teach em young.
My brother brought home a Pit/Lab mix almost 2 years ago... she thinks shes a cat... loves to cuddle, she's a "few fries short of a happy meal" as i like to say... but sweet.
If i can get the photos to load, I'll show you how i found her last night...must have gotten her head stuck in a box... lol

He's adorable! Lots and lots of socialization, both with people and animals will help with aggression. Good luck! I love my pitty!

Precious!  I love those ears.  Pitties are wonderful and don't have to be treated different than any other dog.  To be good dogs all puppies and dogs, regardless of breed, need socialization with people, other dogs and animals, early and often.   Combine that with basic obedience training and you're gonna have a great dog!

Treat him with respect and he will respect you. Pits are the best dogs to get along with, full of love. I love my pitty.

P.s. he is adorable!

I figured he will be fine if he's socialized and treated right, there's just always the reputation in the back of your mind, wondering if I should be worried!  lol I've always had a dog, just never a pit!

Don't be worried!  I've volunteered in pit bull rescue for a few years know.  There's no reason to believe the hype which is largely caused by media bias.  They weren't called "nanny dogs" in the early 20th century for nothing - they are great dogs who have a bad rap through no fault of their own.

Pits are great dogs. Treat him just like any other puppy. Love him and give him discipline if he needs it. My pits have always been really sensitive, a sharp tone usually did the trick. Socialize him well, he is cute.

It's possible. I wish i had better pictures of her body, whatever she is, she's super athletic, can easily clear a 6 foot fence.
I think my brother saw both parents. he paid $50 for her lol.

Just raise him up like any other good-citizen dog.  I've spent time rehabbing fighting pits and bait dogs and only one showed any aggression and only to other dogs...was at feeding time and that's it.  He also came in with his mouth wired shut and completely emaciated.  Not a wonder food meant a lot to him. It's amazing how forgiving and kind those dogs are even when raised by hateful human beings.

He's super cute and love his eyes, good luck!

So so cute!!!  What a precious guy!

I rescued this Pit about 3 years ago...he's the most gentle dog I've ever been around as far as never even growling at one of my other dogs if they take his bone away from him....his name is Buddy...I swear he's so smart that he knows what i'm thinking before I even say or do anything......

On the other hand...here's the Jackrat I inherited that I'm trying to pick up off the couch without welding gloves...LOL....

We ended up with an abandoned year old female pit. She is an awesome dog! She greets people at the store we own. She hasn't been a problem at all. We just make sure we socialize her to other dogs and people.
