We are getting ready for another cold snap...Thursday it is supposed to be -4 for a high -14 for a low.  This will put us somewhere around 50 days below zero for the season.  I am cold!  I promise to be a good girl and clean up after myself.

I agree Chuckie.  I'm so tired of this.  The entire 7 day outlook is so freaking cold!  I was going to move out to my aunts in the western part of SD for a couple weeks with a load of horses I'm trying to keep rode because its always nice and warm in the Hills area but they are even cold.    I'm so tired......so very very tired of the cold and ice.

Does the weather make us Northerners tougher than the average bear or stupid?

Every year I wonder what the heck (only I don't say heck) were the settlers thinking when they stopped here.  It's pretty where I live but this cold weather is kicking my behind!!  Where is this global warming I've heard people speak of?

Having lived my whole life in Central to East Texas, I cannot imagine living up north.  I watch the tv coverage and wonder how people can live thru that.  I have been there during the summer and I know how nice it is and I know that people think that our summers are unbearable, but we have air conditioning and can ride at night or early mornings.  All I can say is that I am glad my ancesters stopped when they got to Texas.

I'm trying to figure out how to get my horses rode for Bonus race finals.  Right now the area I ride, and for that matter all other areas, is a nothing but a huge ice skating rink.   Thank gosh it's still over a month away!

Were looking at -10 here. That's not including the 3 feet of snow that I have to walk through to my barn. This winter has been tough tough tough. I'm not even sure I remember how to ride its been so long.

I  have the same problem.  I have a mile long field I can get some long trotting in, I do have to watch out for ice in certain areas but generally speaking its not too bad.  Last week I conned my kids into helping me ride my 3 entered in the Bonus Race but I'm thinking this weeks sub 0 weather I'll be on my own. LOL

The snow has pretty much missed us this year.  My brother left here last week to deliver horses to Wisconsin.  Said he got 100 miles east to Hutchinson and he found the beginnings of winter.  It got worse the further east he drove.  I'll gladly skip the snow if we just get some spring rains.

Crazy when -7 seems good.  I got home from work the other night and took my dogs out.  It was about 9:30 at night and about -6 out.  The wind wasn't blowing so I went outside just on the front porch and stood while the dogs did their business and thought it was kind of nice out.  What kind of sick, twisted attitude is that when you start to think -6 with no wind is "nice"....

I went to pick up my trailer in Verndale and I was surprised how much less snow they had. They still have a lot but not as much.

Rain would be wonderful! A nice green pasture is all I see when it rains and green is good!
