Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | If you were one of those people who highly dislikes to leg your horses up after a long winter or you are away on business a lot and would like your horse kept in shape, would you pay to take them somewhere to have this done? Not talking swimming but actually riding. There would be no tuning on the barrels/roping unless specifically asked for.
We have an indoor and outdoor arena, along with 2 round pens and over 14,000 acres to ride on.
How much would you pay for something like this? Would you want to pay by the month or by the ride?
Any feedback would be great! |

Edited to say that I'd probably pay on a per hour basis. or horse/per day basis.

| I used to ride horses for the neighbours as a kid 15 years ago I was getting 10/ride/horse.
The things to consider how far they have to drive if they are being ridden at your place, if they are being stabled some ps here else the cost of stabling.
Honestly I would say if you have a neighbour kid who doesn't have to travel I would say 10-20/horse/ride, as brushing saddling takes along time.
It also depends on how many horses as you may be able to make a deal and a monthly rate with number of horses and number of days on each horse. |

I'd pay $10 a ride and I'd want you to actually ride the horse for let's say an hour at a time. |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | True story. I had a girl come over to the house to ride a mare for me. I just wanted reining work on her. She was track broke. She got on her for maybe 15 minutes and wanted $20. I was not impressed. She didn't come back. |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | ...AND....lol....it would have been worth the $20 for 15 minutes had she actually taught her something. But, there was no reining magic that day. |

So much can be affected with a horse even off the pattern, now if this person had an impressive reputation as a trainer, not necessarily a barrel trainer, but as an overall trainer/rider then I would consider it. |

I'd rather put my money into sending my horse off to swim and all that. and honestly if I don't want to put in the elbow grease to get my horse in shape... I wouldn't feel good about barrel racing. |

| I would be more apt to send my horse to a rehab or other type of facility that had a aqua tread and/or euro ciser. I have had someone pony my horse before when I was in a bind, but not sure how I feel about someone riding them. I paid that person $20 a day, they also took care of feeding once a day. No cleaning pens or anything, they fed 4 horses and ponied 1. |

Colts, I pay $20 a ride. For how long???? Normally 30 minutes to an hour....but then again it depends on how old that colt is, 4 year olds get put on the cattle.....they can be lightly ridden for 2 hours, then heavily worked for an hour which will be a 3 hour ride putting miles and training on that colt....as well as putting him in shape, and this is 5 days a week.
