I have really thick, long(to the top of my jeans), curly, frizzy hair. I LOVE the idea of having it straight for a few months and not having to worry about it so much. Has anyone here had it done? And can you dye your hair after(I never know when I will get a wild hair to dye it lol). Any tips are appreciated!! Thanks!!

I haven't done the treatment, but I use a keratin infused leave in conditioner (salon quality) daily and it has helped tremendously! I'm almost out so I'll have to get another bottle, but I love it

I have, I get it done every October right before i go on vacation. I LOVE it.
I have very long and thick hair, that gets frizzy and beachy wavy.... in the summer i don't mind it because i just shower, throw some mousse in and let it air dry, but when it starts to get cold its too much of a hassle to blow dry, then straighten.

When I get the keratin, i usually dye my hair at the same time, the keratin locks the color in for a longer amount of time. Afterwards my hair is much softer, it dries in half the amount of time, and i don't need to use the straightener after blow drying.

I know you can do keratin on colored hair but not sure which one you do first.  I loved having keratin treatments on mine but honestly, they just got to expensive & seemed to last less and less time.

For the most part they won't "straighten" curly hair but it will take the "frizz" out - at least that was the result I got.  My favorite part was taming all the flyaways around my face that tend to stick out like Methusela.

Used to get mine done every 6 mths & getting it done next week.  I have naturally curly, course hair (thick & long).  Softens it up really silky & makes it soooo shiney!  You do have to use sulfate/paba free shampoo & conditioner after you do the treatment.  Sally's Beauty Supply has a really good one (ION Smooth Solutions - I use it all the time & my treatments last even longer using it especially) or you can find them at Walmart, local beauty supply places (Ulta, etc) but if you want the treatment to last you HAVE to use shampoos/conditioners that are SULFATE FREE/PABA FREE.  My hairstylist does it AFTER she colors my hair & immediately after she colors my hair typically.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the way it does my hair.  Humidity & Rain usually cause me to frizz out all crazy but not when I do the keratin treatment.  HIGHLY recommend!!!!  :)

I had it done for a couple of years....  I liked it, but got tired of not being able to run out the door after putting a bit of gel on my hair.  I might wind up doing it again after a while.  I get bored with the same hairstyle.  It has to be something I can fix really fast and low maintenance.  You can have your hair colored after getting a treatment.   My hair grew out kinda funky, took a while to get all the treated part gone and go back to curly.  I know some people can still wear their hair wavy after having it treated, my hair didn't work that way.

I'm out of the loop but don't know anything about this treatment.  My hair is like so many of you described....long, thick, and the older I get the frizzier it gets.  I have it layered and thinned to try to tame it but I always look like an 80's big hair band member.  The only way I can really control it is to straighten it but that takes so much time that I don't have.  I think I'll ask my hair dresser about the treatment as I need to go in to color my silvers. LOL

I have naturally wavy/frizzy hair and I LOVE the brazilian blowouts. I don't have time to fuss with my hair in the mornings, with the blowout it airdrys almost totally straight. It also protects your hair from styling and its very shiny! I'm hooked!

Oh dear....thanks for the warning.  I'll give her a call later.  If it does last a few months it sure would make my hair easier in the summer.  Most days its so wild and crazy I throw it in a pony tail so I get broken hairs from that.  My luck it would do some wilder and crazier stuff to my hair. LOL

It's well worth the price if you go out and or travel for work as much as i do... I hate having to remember to pack my blow dryer, curling iron and or straightener... its such a relief to know that if i use the hotel hair dryers... I can still come out looking like a normal human being lol.

I have curly, long, VERY thick hair, that doesn't starighten, well it does, but after you starighten it for 3 hrs it turns frizzy in 30 min, not worth it to me.  I had the Keratin treatment done a couple years ago, mine still wouldn't go straight after, but it did make it alot more managable.  I've never been able to have my hair cut shorter because its so think it just gets huge and looks horrible, I was able to have it cut a little above my shoulders after I had it done and it looked good.  It was expensive I want to say I paid around $300.00 for it, and it took 5 hours to do, BUT it did last me a year or so.  If I could find time in my schedule so I could were it completely smooth (my hair lady told me no boby pins to hold it back, no pony tail, no nothing, completely smooth down and keep it smooth) again for 3 days I would have it done again.

Holy crap if it costs $300 I'll pass.  I'll still ask my beautician but if its along the lines of what you quoted I'll keep putting it in a pony tail.

my SO's Ex does... and I'm SO JEALOUS. Her hair always looks excellent.

300 sounds about right, she does hers twice a year and says she only has to blow dry it and maybe straighten her bangs the way she wants every now and then.
my hair is too thin and fragile to do those treatments I think :(

I think nothing of dropping $300 on horse stuff but on my hair?  I can't do it.  I'm thinking 80's big hair band look isn't so bad after all.  LOL

I agree with you! I'm too big of a penny pincher. I wish my hair was like all those hair dye commercials all of the time! and I didn't have to style it, or pay for it ;)

I'd call your stylist about it on the pricing.  I think full price here in the Tulsa, OK area is around $160 - the one that my stylist uses anyway & it DOES last about 6 mths & it works on my crazy hair.  The key is using the right shampoo & conditioner AFTER getting the treatment.  You seriously have to use shampoo & conditioner that is sulfate free.  I haven't had to do my hair in like year & half but found this ION brand shampoo at Sally's Beauty Supply (you can find it online too if you google - ION Smooth Solutions).  It's Sulfate & Paba free shampoo & conditioner.  Mind you, haven't done a treatment on my hair in a long, long time when I found this shampoo/conditioner - it has kept my hair smooth & silky like the treatment did.  You might try it even if you don't go do the treatment.  It's pretty inexpensive.

I LOVE the brazilian blowout!!! I will have one forever!

I have long frizzy wavy hair that is unmanageable. I got a brazilian and it lasted for a few months, even after it grew out and started getting wavy again it wasn't frizzy and crazy.

Absolutely love it and recommend it to everyone. I also dye my hair and haven't had any issues.
