 Also make sure it is an easily absorbable magnesium. 
Have you ruled out any other pain? Ulcers? These issues can also cause goober ness.

Yes, and it works.   I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but my horses have also seemed just a little spookier with it as well........I have wondered if it is like us being "woke up "  from a little drop off nap.........not sure however.

It does work very well on horses with over abundance of adrenaline :).   That is the major ingredient in EX Stress, a very good product.......

I have used Allay by Adeptus on two different horses with great results.  Natural Calm is a supplement I take sometimes.  Just watch for loose stool that is a sign your getting to much magnesium.  Great stuff and very important for muscle soreness, hyper, stress etc.
