Location: Kansas | I just heard about this on FOX news last night. It appears the Obama administration in coordination with the EPA are banning the sale of wood burning stoves by 80% and may be after those who currently heat their homes with wood.........because suddenly it's a dangerous air pollutant. Many, especially in rural areas, turned to wood because of this administrations war on the coal industry. |

Probably because they can control the prices and flow of natural gas, propane and fuel oil but they can't control people chopping their own wood. Pathetic piece we have in Washington. |

Location: In The Land of Cotton | I am interested too. My husband and I have been watching this. Apparently 80% of all wood stoves being sold do not meet the new requirements of the EPA. So, they are banning them. But, I don't know more then that. Someone? |

Location: Near San Antonio, TX | I am not sure of the details either. I have an awesome wood burning stove in my house. That thing can crank some heat better than any fire place I have ever seen. I totally love it. It makes sense that it is because they can't control the wood prices/people chopping their own. |

Location: Nor'Dakoda | I should add... I do believe that wood stoves are pollutant. BUT I think that if you're burning seasoned dry wood the level is quite low. Maybe the EPA should worry a bit more about these huge companies sending chemicals into the atmosphere rather than the average Joe burning a few cords of wood a winter to keep his family from freezing. Shows where priorities lay in this country. |

With the experiences I've had with the EPA, I don't trust them not to make it retroactive in the future. |

LOL. I would absolutely love a solar paneled home. However, you can't afford it. (I know you were being sarcastic). |

"There's not a stove in the United States that can pass the test right now — this is the death knoll of any wood burning," Reg Kelly, the founder of Earth Outdoor Furnaces in Mountain Grove, told Missouri lawmakers during a recent hearing.

God Help Us
History repeating itself - remember back when us "older" people used to read about the Soviet Union, cutting off gas lines to certain villages because the people would not cave in. Or cut off their food supplies? Same thing I keep saying, while wearing my tin foil hat - control fuel and food and you control a nation.
Seems a little far fetched, but my opinion is only for those who stick their head in the sand and say "America" is fine. |

| We have one of the big outdoor woodburners/boilers. I have to say that it doesn't have hardly any smoke come out of it unless we are letting it go out and heats our house with hot water. It is very efficient and don't know what we would have done with out it this winter. Our propane company would only deliver 200 gallon at a time and we have a horrible driveway in the winter. So they can only get up a few times a year.
I am always amazed by what the government tries to take over and ruin. |

Location: Nor'Dakoda | I keep my tinfoil hat on too. It just makes me SO p*ssed that Obama keeps trying to take out the average person at the knees. BUT-- that's how you take out an army too, do away with the infantry--if you will, and then what do you have left? The big guns and the medics... who will blindly follow because-- what is the other option? You can NOT be middle class in this country. Health insurance, heating costs, grocery costs, fuel costs, taxes, they all screw you over 100%. I stay at home with the kids and hubby works. In order for me to go back to school I would have to divorce him so I could get government assistance, then a free ride to college. INSANITY! I'm ready to build my cabin in the sticks and be "off the grid" where NObama can't get to me! Ha ha! |

Yes, it is like the Frog in the pot of warm water...by the time he realized he was in trouble...it was too late...he was cooked..."screwed". Congress needs some "Hot Water" reaction of protest to Obama, instead of the lukewarm reaction...thinking mostly of what's in it for them... |
