Location: Where Governor's make the liscense plates | Long story short my mom has the stomach flu or norovirus per her dr. but was not "tested" Since monday she's had symptoms and I live with her and have yet to get sick- as I'm aware 24-48hrs is the incubation time.
I am to leave for FL on Mon. with non refunable tix traveling with my prego best friend- My drs office thinks its fine as I show no symptoms and have been keeping good hygiene. Her dr.'s office told her its a horrible idea and the virus particles are shed 2 weeks after and I could have it although I'm not having any symptoms. My issue here is I will be losing out on $400 worth of tix for something I Do Not have please help me I'm literally in tears and fighting with my germophobe best friend. I understand shes 34 weeks prego and concerned but I'm not sure its quite as deadly as shes thinking? |

Location: Slipping down the slope of old age. Boo hoo. | Your friend is going to get on an airplane with a hundred + people who may or may not have who knows what virus and spend several hours with those people yet she is worried about you? Oh my. I'd be much more worried about who was sitting behind me or in front of me on the airplane what was on those flip down trays on the airplane. When I travel I use cleansing wipes to wipe down the tray on the airplane seat and anything and everything else on the airplane I *might* touch as well as watch out when sitting in or touching those chairs in the waiting area in the airport. Eeeeewwwww. ICKY. I think she is worrying way too much about you.... For all she knows, Typhoid Mary could be on that airplane flight with you. (By the way, I am very surprised she is flying at 34 weeks.)

yeah her dr. told her until 35 weeks which is when she will be back.... I'm just so distraught over this She is my very best friend in the world but not when shes acting this way... I just dont think I'm wrong when I'm not sick... plus the way its spread is through vomit and fecal matter |

Location: ND | 'stomache flu' can be from a variety of virus' not just noro......either way, if she's that worried about contracting 'stomach flu', she shouldn't be checking in, standing in line for screening, waiting at a gate, dealing with tickets and hands, using any handrail, touching any seat, or door, or sink on an airplane, deplaning, picking up luggage, moving through crowds to bathroom...........and then flying back........
i think you see my point......... |

With the norovirus, I would like to see the research her doctor is referring to, as a nurse one must only be 48 hours symptom free before returning to work |

Location: Memphis, TN | Heck tell her not to go if she's that worried about germs. Sounds to me like she needs to lock herself in a room with a can of Lysol and bottle of hand sanitizer for the next 4-5 weeks. I'm sure it's mostly stemming from hormones This far into it she's mentally and emotionally preparing to be a protective momma. Just bring her back down to reality with the risk she is taking in general traveling. Also the big reason doctors consider stomach bugs dangerous is the dehydration from getting sick. It's not necessarily the bug itself from what I understand. |

Rode in a crazy cabs and walked numerous blocks. Germs were the last thing I was worried about, I had better things to enjoy like Bon Jovi AND Matthew McConaughey being there!!!! Germs sherms/ pregnant schmegnant, you only live once!! Tell your friend to stay home, if she's that worried she's not gonna be any fun anyways :) |

Β I agree her dr.also Didn't explain how the virus is shed she just said how badly it's shed. Her husband just called me saying she's just as upset as me and he hates us fighting he said she wants me to try and get insurance which they won't give me when my flights on Monday. |

It really is just that simple. Ever wonder why nurses spend hours upon hours around sick people and never get sick.... We wash our hands, a lot. :) |

You have four more days to make up your mind....If you are not showing any symptoms on Monday, I would hop on that flight. If you have symptoms by then you won't WANT to get on the flight. She has just as much chance of catching something from the hundreds of OTHER people she will be around. I think she is being a little selfish. |
