Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | I know I spelled that wrong, but tell me your experiences. Good, bad, ugly. Recovery? How did you feel immediately after, a day after, a week after.....
The plan is to remove one ovary, several cysts, and treat endometriosis. I've not been able to talk to anyone that has had it done so I really know nothing about what to expect and the surgeon has been vague as well because he won't really know until after the surgery (still unsure of what all they will end up finding).
I'm anxious to have the pain issues resolved, but really nervous about all of it as well...... |

Location: Florida | I had it done 4 years ago for cysts and severe endo. I was in so much pain it was unimaginable. The Dr said it should be a 2-3 hour surgery. Ended up being almost 6 because it was much worse and my dr didn't want to cut me open. I ended up having to stay over night in hospital cause of the length of the surgery. I was sore as heck for a couple days, had to wear loose clothing but really wasn't gosh awful. The difference after was incredible as far as pain in concerned. You will be glad you went thru with the surgery. I have two tiny scars that healed nicely. Good luck and I hope all goes well for you. |

The surgeon also said based on the current pain situation that I should notice a huge difference pretty quickly afterwards even though I'll be sore. He said about 2-3 hours but they are already expecting me to stay overnight because I have a history of not liking to wake up after anesthesia :)

Location: Florida | No problem. Glad I could help. You certainly will notice a difference once you recover from surgery, which if memory serves me right, I was pretty good about 4 days after. I know I probably have some more issues going on but just keep putting off another surgery. My pain tolerance also is a big issue with me because its so high that by the time I cry uncle it's gotten bad. You will know a month out how great of a decision it was!!  |

Location: Texas | Had this same procedure done. I too have trouble with the Anesthesia.I went home the same day. I was very uncomfortable as they will fill your abdomen with a gas. Very few stitches involved. Not bad at all compared to standard open surgery. Took about a week to really start feeling better.

Location: Nebraska | I just had an exploratory done. They were supposed to biopsy anything they found and if there was a lot they were planning on cleaning me out too. Turns out they only found one spot that could be endometriosis and it was on a spot they were unable to biopsy. I don't know what they did in there, but I have been pain free since they did the procedure. The doc said sometimes it helps to just move stuff around. My procedure was about an hour. The one thing I will say is you don't know how much you use those muscles until they cut them! I was doing chores the next day and riding after the weekend.
The worst part of it all was the bloating. I was bloated for probably a week. They wanted me to ambulate as much as I could so that I could get rid of all that gas that they pump you with. I probably lived in sweats for about a week before I felt comfortable wearing jeans again. Although I only had 2 small incisions, my abs were sore for quite a while. I have very little scaring from it, too which is nice.
They told me I would be drugged up and that I wouldn't remember anything from that day----they were wrong. I remember everything. The worst thing I remember though is when they extubated me. They promised me I wouldn't remember but I do. Man, my throat was sore after that.
I have had a few friends that also have endometriosis be cleaned out. They would have the procedure Thurs or Fri and be back to school after the weekend. |

Location: Nebraska | I would also recommend taking a stool softener after the procedure. Pain meds and surgery will cause constipation. |

| As mentioned a couple of posts up, they "blow you up". When I woke up in recovery, I was unprepared for how much pain was in my upper chest, and I truly thought I was having heart problems. The nurse asked if they didn't warn me about that, and no, they did not. It is from the gas they use to somewhat inflate your insides so they can work. It settles in various places after the surgery is over, and does hurt if you do not know it's coming. But it passes quickly. Best of luck with your procedure.

Location: WV | I have had a few of theses. They all were about the same except for the first one and I had a little gas. Nothing that just plain Tylenol could not fix though. Never had any pain meds afterwards with any of the others though. I'm not big on taking medication unless I really have to. I was always up and moving pretty good, you may be sore but no worries it's not that bad. Or, in my opinion it was not. Wanted to mention that I was not under for 3 hours either and do not really have any trouble with anesthesia. Good luck and I will be thinking of you.

You will need hubby really bad the first couple of days, I did, he had to help me to go potty and help me lay back down, my muscles were so darn sore. And he's such a good guy made sure I had everything in reach, and make sure you keep your cell phone right there with you, I used mine when I needed him to help me to the bathroom, I would call him if he was outside are working in his shope. It was just as good as having that little bell to ring  |

I hope it's not that bad. But it may be. I know things were more painful after my spine surgery because my back muscles were so strong from working out, so it will probably be the same with ab muscles :( |

The Dr. did find a fairly large abdominal adhesion which he tried to remove, it grew back. I have since done a lot of research and it seems that adhesions are almost impossible to get rid. But....at least I know where my pain is coming from. I'm pretty sure it is from an injury when I got dumped off a horse several years ago.
The surgery was aobut 45 minutes. The worst part was the nausea due to the anesthesia. I didn't have any bloating and the pain was just some soreness, nothing that couldn't have been handled with ibuprofen or naproxen, but, the Dr. did have me on hydrocodone for a few days anyhow.

They will be trying to remove a very large adhesion/tissue growth that has the left ovary attached to the uterus....hoping that goes ok. Either way, it's got to be less painful on a daily basis then where I'm at right now. I don't think I've really slept in months and I believe it's finally catching up to me. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Ok ladies, recovery time. I'm not quite as sore in the abdomenal area as I thought. I'm hurting, definitely, but not as bad as I imagined. My biggest problem is the chest pain, gas, and naseua. Do I just need to get up and walk around more? The doctors said the more I could move around, the better. The chest pain sucks, but it is exactly as they described it would be so I'm not concerned that there is anything else wrong. |

Thanks. I can't lay completely flat yet. So I have been staying propped up on the couch.
I wish he would have said they removed all the endo and I would be good to go for a while. But I understand why they didn't and couldn't. Not really looking forward to having to continue dealing with all of it, BUT grateful that it is finally being dealt with. |

Location: Florida.. | I have not had endo stuff done but when they were in there one surgery removing some of my intestine they grabbed my ovaries.. due to they had unexpected issues he noticed..not lapo way though.. . I wil say some prayers for healing and better days ahead!! |
