Location: Near San Antonio, TX | My sister and her boyfriend/husband (they had been together 12+ years, bought property/house together, etc) were in an awful wreck last Thursday morning. My sister was driving, and her husband was killed in the accident. She is doing ok physically, she has broken facial bones, and some fractures on the back of her skull, but it will heal with time. Emotionally she is a wreck. She feels responsible and numerous times she has said "how can I go on living knowing I killed the love of my life." I guess I am just asking for prayers for her and his family as they are devestated beyond comprehension. My sister was wearing a seat belt, and her husband was not. He was actually asleep (we think) at the time of the crash, as the seat was reclined all the way back.
She is now staying with me, and she can do so as long as she needs to. There are a lot of things going on that make this very complicated. She has so, so many animals. She has 8 dogs (7 german shorthair pointers and a red heeler) that are at my house in a 12'x12' kennel. She has two pet skunks that live inside (use litter box) three cats, a couple cows, a couple horses, thirty-something chickens, goats, a couple mini donkeys, turtles, and I am not sure what else. There is no way she can afford todo it all her self alone.
I guess I am asking for prayers for her especially, but everyone effected.

Please keep an eye on her. I don't want to say she could be a danger to herself, but that statement sounds like she could be. IMO. I'm not a trained professional or anything of the such. |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | Oh dear......I am so sorry for you and your family. She has you to lean on and it will be tough. Is there anyone else in the family to help with some of the animals? I would try to get her to talk to someone (maybe her minister?) about her feelings of guilt along with her grief...... |

Is there a Humane Society in your area you could call and ask for advice? Unfortunately, I imagine they have had to help out with this same type of situation many times -- they may have some helpful advice for you on this difficult journey. Or perhaps you could call one of the larger ones in a larger city to ask for advice.
