Is anyone on here a phlebotomist? We have a 7 week course here that I'm seriously considering taking....I have worked in the medical field, so I'm no stranger to it, but I seriously need to do something different. I have already talked with the instructor & she knows my previous boss from the EMS company I worked at doing the billing. She is willing to help me get in with a doctors office instead of at one of the hospitals.

If anyone is currently in a phlebotomy position....do you enjoy it & is it worth it? The cost is very reasonable for the course & I would be certified in 7 weeks. Did you find it difficult to find a position once you became certified?

Here in TN a person doesn't have to be certified, but I figure it best if I had the certification for more opportunities.

My friend has been doing it for a couple of years now. She does enjoy it. If you work in a hospital you'll most likely work some days drawing blood and some days in the lab receiving and sorting specimens, taking calls, etc. The pay isn't amazing, but there are usually shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shift. I personally like 2nd shift, you have the morning to ride, workout, and otherwise get things done before work.
