Location: Probably On the Road to the Next Barrel Race! | Looking at a nice 1D horse, too far away to go try, realistically. He is my style of horse, a free runner, and I love his videos. Has a huge win record...if horse vetted sound, would you have the balls to buy him unridden, and have him shipped? Because that's what I'm thinking of doing...help! |

| I would if I could find someone local that knows the horse and talk to them about it. The owner might be a known shyster or a honest and great horseman. |

Location: Montana | Me, I'd go look at him any ways...if he is a true 1D horse, it may be the best $600 you'd spend...and if he's not at least you only spent $600 to find that out. JMHO.
You might check the transportation forum on here to see if anyone is heading from CA to TX. :-) |

| I bet someone on here knows the horse and rider especially if its a 1D horse.
Google search the registered name and also search for it on youtube for random videos.

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | If I was planing on spending top dollar on a 1d barrel horse I would spend the extra money and go try him. I would not want to risk spending money on a horse that may not fit my style of riding. Good luck to ya and hope this works out for you |

Unless the horse is 2 or younger, I would never try without riding
For a horse that is currently competevie in the 1D, trying is a must. No way would I buy without riding him or getting personal help in getting with him

Location: In a happy place | I think you would be way ahead to fly out and try him. I had a horse shipped from California to Texas, but it was a few years back. It cost me $600. I was very pleased with the man doing the shipping. |

| In 2012 I bought 2 horses sight unseen. I had flown all over and was just over it, so I bought them without seeing them first. Tons of videos, tons of pictures, tons of conversations. Both horses came to me EXACTLY as advertised...and if I had gone to see them in person I wouldn't have bought either of them! I am picky about little things...personality, willingness and conformation, and photos are just hard to be really sure about.
Luckily I sold one quickly, the other got hurt and now he's a lifer here that honestly is hard to be around.
I have since bought 3 that I flew to see. I couldn't ride any of them, because I was just out of back surgery, but I went and watched them handled, handled them myself, watched them ride. And love, love, love them.
I spent some money traveling, but nothing compared to ending up with another expensive horse I did not like.
Southwest and Frontier are usually the cheapest...Good Luck! |

Location: mi | Spend the money and fly out and ride him. Also I would try to schedule the trip around some time when you could actually run the horse even if its just alittle playday. So you can have a feel of him in the pen. And I would also have a Vet appointment for your prepurchase scheduled for when you are out there if possible. Then you are there first hand to see everything. Then you can fly home and arrange shipping with total peace of mind. |

Location: Sherman, TX | I bought a DTF bred stud last October from CAL. I got quotes from $650-900 for shipping here to Texas. Lucked out and found someone coming from CAL. to the Andalusian show in Fort Worth, they were advertising slots open on Facebook. I only had to pay $300 to get him here and they did an excellent job because they stopped so frequently so their horses would be rested up for the show. So I would try asking on Facebook. I have used Equine Express in the past as have several of my friends, they always did an excellent job. Think they said they make 2 trips a month to CA. |

If I was spending the big bucks on a proven 1D horse, I'd fly out to see him. Absolutely. |
