I'm curious what you expect to pay for one? My step dad is selling his 3D/4D mare at a reasonable price. She's a JOH granddaughter and automatic as can be, a youth that knows how to ride already could ride her. Does barrels and poles. But then I keep seeing basically the same type of horse priced thousands above what she is. I've seen up to 10,000. So I'm just curious.

Depends on the age and what's the competition.   A 3D horse at World or against TX competition would be one of the 10,000 models.  A 3D horse at a 40-50 rider barrel race, where the top 1D horse is a 2D horse at Nationals would be 5000 or under in my book.

If the horse is 8-10 you might get more, if it's 15-25 expect less.

She's 13. About the same age range as others I've seen posted. And all are just listed as 3D/4D 21-22 second pole horse.

Would also depend on 3D where. 3D at the super shows is a whole other ball game then 3D locally with 50 - 100 entries.

Depends on her looks and condition. Depends on her quality of care. Depends on her bloodlines. Depends on the type of competition she usually runs against. Depends on her age. Depends on how easy she handles. Depends on how quiet she is. There are lots of factors to take into consideration. You just have to use your best judgement and try to be realistic about what she is. Also remember, just because a horse is listed for a price is certainly no indication that is what they sold for. I've heard of too many horses the owner originally listed for, say $7,500, but wound up selling for like $4,000 or less. Some people can sell horses and some cannot. I cannot. :-)

I would say around $3-5k if you're just going local 3D/4D

$8,000-11,000 if it's a national 3D horse.

But you never know what a parent might pay if she's the right horse for their child.  She's certainly got some years left in her.

I wasn't asking about my step dads mare. I used her as an example. Her price won't be upped. But she is 3D/4d everywhere, whether there's 30 or 300 in the class against alot of good horses.

just because people are asking a price doesn't mean they get it…

I personally think a horse that most anyone could ride, that knows its job, is well broke, minimal to no maintenance, and that can place in 3D at bigger competitions I would say $7,500 +

I personally think they are worth their weight in gold. (I also have that type of horse though so maybe I am parcial)
