Location: Oklahoma | Very touching! Had tears when you spoke about your brother. How very sad!
I'm trying to start back running barrels after a 7 1/2 hiatus. I never ever thought that there would be a day when I wouldn't turn a barrel, but the decision happened so suddenly and whatever courage I had all those years is long gone. Thanks for the inspiring words! |

Good luck getting back into it! I'm glad someone empathized. I'm nowhere near a bad*ss but I love it and it gives me some stress relief :) |

Thanks for the link to your blog! I have been seriously struggling to get back in to barrel racing after 12 years off. Losing my Mom to cancer was what made me want to try again, realized how short life really could be. Never really thought a comeback would be so hard but everytime I get confident in a horse they die or get hurt and need a long layoff. I am trying to bring two back now, one was injured another blown up and I will be starting my colt this spring, the timing of your post could not have been better for me. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | That was amazing, I totally understand many fears, I suffer from terrible anxiety and panic attacks and I face my fears everyday and every time I'm on the road to a barrel race, I make myself do what my brain tells me not to but my heart yearns for. Life Is to short to sit in the dark afraid, a lot of people would never understand my struggles as i would not let them know how hard some things are for me. I just keep moving forward, afraid or not, I will not let fear rule my life!!!
That was beautiful and I will share it with everyone!!!

Location: Where I am happiest | This is great and just what I really needed to hear. I have put myself in a bubble due to fear's. Driving or riding in the car is very stressfull to me due to being hit by a drunk driver. I am working on that and it carries over into everything. I havent competed in years and havent ridden since my car accident 4 years ago. My husband bought a horse for me back we had raised and sold as a 2 yr old. The horse is now 7 and has basically been sitting all that time. So we sent him for training and I am going to start riding when he gets home. I am not kidding it has been YEARS, since I have competed but I am going to do it. I dont care if I cant ride like a young girl anymore and I always said I dont want to ride like a old lady but you know what? I AM a old lady now so who cares? LOL. I sure dont have to be the fastest out there any more either and know I cant physically, or mentally ride like that anymore but I can have fun. I will at least be out there and I will do what I always loved to do. Thats what they made 4D's for right? lol |

Girl they've got 6D's now! My goal in any arena is to beat my last time there. I don't put myself against the trainers, the girls that have been riding since they could walk, the pros. I try to beat myself, and either way, I still win ;) |
