Location: Oklahoma | Would it be wise to try and attend all the clinics feasible? I don't mean as in driving across the country full time going, I just mean if one is conveniently located a couple of times a year.
(Assuming on an unfinished, but patterned horse)
Or are some training methods so different it might do more harm for a horse than good? |

| You can never get to much knowledge. Learn as much as you can. Every horse is different and you and your horses can benefit from you knowing different methods to achieve the same goal. I'm always willing to learn new things and listen to what works for different people. The more tools you have in you tool box the better prepared you are. |

BUT, you can research different clinicians styles, choose one you best think will suit your horse and attend that one. Uncle Ed, Connie Combs, Lynn McKinsey, Josie, Youree, all are different styles. |

Location: My Own Little World | Been to a few different clinicians and would really like to go to more if I could afford it. I have learned something from every one I have attended. Some things I have learned may be training tips, warm up tricks, mental game, health, etc. There are certain teachers that I seem to really do well with their style of running and certain ones I really like their training ideas. I say go to different ones when you can |

Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | I would go to as many as I could. There isn't much around here but every few years I go to one. I've never been to the same person either. They all do things differently and I've learned things from all of them. Not like you have to do everything as they say when you leave. Take in the information that is helpful and leave the rest. |

I've used old finished horses to 3 yr olds to everything in between. This will be my 2nd time riding with my newer mare. |

| You can ALWAYS learn ... Even if it is what not to do. As someone else stated - you can never have too many tools in your tool box! |

I dont see any harm in going to as many as you want, I say go for it and enjoy. You may like one better then the other, they all have a different view on certain issues, |

| I think you can learn at least one thing from any person, doesn't even have to be a clinician. Even tho I think I wasted my time at a clinic last year since that clinician clashed with the training style of my horses 100% I still learned some valuable new tools. My hands have improved 100% since the clinic. |

I went to one of her's 9 years ago at her ranch (just about an hour and half from my house) and I LOVED it. My gelding and I did so well. I wish had a horse and I would have went to the one she had just last week (I think it was) at her ranch. |

Thanks! I had quite an interesting combo when I was younger... He was trained by Youree (well, James Ward), did some Josey clinic stuff with him and then a few years later we did Connie Combs. Horse and I never worked out, but I had fun with all the styles.
I just don't want to do anything on a horse that's still very impressionable that might confuse him.. or me! lol |

I always tell her I'm going to move in for a week or 2 and spend tons of saddle time. I've been to 8 or 9 of her clinics and I still learn something new. If your that close to her I'd sure try to get hooked up again. |

Location: North Dakota | Ask any of my friends and they'll tell you I'm a clinic "junkie!" LOVE THEM!! I think its a great way to learn valuable tools that will help you now or down the road. In conjunction to barrel racing clinics I always try to go to a horsemanship clinic at least every other year too:) And I also agree you can learn something from EVERYONE! You will either learn what you want to do or don't want to do.
There has only been 1 clinic I've gone to that I can say total waste of time. There were WAY WAY to many people in the clinic and most of them had not even gone around a barrel. I was having issues with my horse and the clinician literally told me she didn't have time for this and sent me away. There was zero discussion as to what the problem could be caused by and how to correct it. I go with a pretty open mind but with this clinic I almost didn't come back the next day!LOL |

Location: WI | I have done clinics, lessons, and had one in for training. My fave being putting one in training. For the money you spend on a clinic, you can put one with a trainer for 30 days and in my case free lessons while he was there. That helped me by far the most. I will audit every clinic I can, but there is prly only 1 clinician I would go back to with a horse. |

We did a CJ clinic that wasn't too bad but had tons of people in it. Also went to another clinic put on by a previous NFR contestant and her style and ours didn't work at all. My daughters horse was so confused she didn't know whether to wind her butt or scratch her watch. That clinic was in February and in April we drove 4 hours just to ride with Connie and try to get the mare straightened out. It worked so we've learned if we want to do a different clinic really look into the riding styles to make sure they jive with what you've been doing. |

The clinic I am going to (try to, atleast!) register for is CJ. I'm currently horseless, but actively looking. I should have one in time for the clinic (13 weeks from now), so I'm not sure exactly what I will be needing to work on, but I'd love to have any knowledge from CJ! I would love to have her rub some of those "nerves of steel" off on me I saw her have at the American! Is 32 people really too crowded? From my understanding, per her website, you go one day with her and one day with clinican Heather. I can't remember the size of the Connie Combs clinic I went to, but I know it wasn't anything out of hand. I also did a Josey clinc 12 years ago and I really did feel like it was too many people. |

Your one day with her you have to remember you have to fit all those people into the day of riding one on one with her. Basically you get 20 minutes. The rest of the day you sit watching or sitting in your trailer. |

IMO Yes, 32 is too much. If the clinic runs 8hrs a day, that is 15minutes per person per day. |

Location: North Dakota | 32? Wowza that's A LOT of people! I won't sign up to ride in one if they accept more than 15. Even then you've got to stick to a schedule or your there all night or somebody isn't going to get enough time. |
