| I answered 4, but really only 2....lol!
I bought mare, tried to sell her later, ended up trading her for a filly, sold the filly. So ended up +0.
Then in January I bought a made with her recip. I counted that as 2 but it is kind of only1?
This year I plan to buy ZERO and sell the 4 yearlings, 2 of the mares, and maybe even an additional mare... And maybe some of the weanlings when they get here!
edited because.....I totally forgot about the mare I claimed! I sold her in January though so not sure she counts?
also not counting the horses I bought for clients....

I was just trying to get a idea. With all the complaining about all the for sale ad threads and how they are worded, priced or not priced and the lack of info in the ads I thought that there would be a lot larger percentage in the multiple horse catagories |

I will say, MOST of what I buy is at sales. Likewise, MOST of what I sell is at sales. I have a hard time reading many sale ads because they make me cringe, but it won't stop me from inquiring if I want one.
As I think about it more, I really buy more word of mouth, non-advertised than I do off of ads. Hmmm...I guess I'm not a good case to study!  |

We're almost the same here. We bought 3 mares last year from sales and the horses we've sold have been word of mouth, off the website or obscure cheap ads. We have some people checking in to see when 'their' baby will will hit the ground in the next few weeks so hopefully some of the babies will be spoke for or sold.
I was just curious on the poll. :)

| We bought 2, but that was because they were dirt cheap project horses that with a little work we can turn a profit on. But we also sold 4 (a race prospect, a barrel prospect, a broodmare, and a rope horse). There are 2 that I'd love to buy right now, but something has to go before something can come in. And honestly I think if I wait a little the prices are going to drop on the ones that I'm interested in. |

I have bought mutiple. But honestly I struggle with a " I need to sale a horse " ads. Lots of nice horses for sale and. I like looking at them |

Location: Deep South | I've bought three in the past year, and I'll say their ads didn't do much for them. I bought them because they were cheap project horses that I knew I could put 30 days on and sell for a profit. But the actual ads were all vague, bad pics, and all three horses had been advertised for 4+ months.
One of the fillies I bought sight unseen and was actually pleasantly surprised when she arrived at how pretty she really is, her pics did nothing for her. The owner's probably could have sold her at her original price much faster, which she had been listed for about $500 more for months before I bought her and then they dropped her price, if they had just taken the time to get some nice shots of her.
When I relist them, I post the best, most flattering pictures of them I can get. And write my ads in a way that catches people's attention, so they'll actually call! It doesn't matter how nice of horse you have sitting in the pasture if you can't even get people to call to come look. |
