I have a gelding showing ulcer symptoms- wk 2 of omeprazole treatment underway now- but I also have some tubes of jailbreak GI left over from another horse. I'm at a clinic and woul like to give him a dose, but I don't know if it goes bad or if there is a shelf date or temperature range it needs kept in. I bought it December 2012. It has been in trailer. What do you think? I don't recall it smelling awesome in the first place, but I "think" it smells about the same. Any ideas/opinions? He is getting a cup of aloe Vera juice each day as well.

What is the texture like? I believe it's good for two years. As long as it isn't really runny and such it should be fine.

Never used the stuff, but I would make sure it's not contraindicated to give the jail break while on omeprazole

As long as it's not dry and chalky it should be fine. You can absolutely give it with Omaprozole.

Still quite moist but not runny. Good to go then! No real drugs in it so it wouldn't affect omeprazole. Not much does since I am way too familiar with the human version.

There are a lot of herbs that react with drugs. Just because there are no real drugs in it doesn't mean it will not affect how omeprazole will be absorbed.

From what I understand, Jailbreak is an acid reducer plus the original Oxy-gen product (which is a probiotic plus electrolytes), so this product should be fine to use with most pharmaceuticals. The ingredients are fairly nonreactive. Anything is possible, but I doubt they would react with one another.

And I would imagine it should be fine to give. The probiotic may not be as effective due to the variety in storage temperature (ie being stored in the trailer), but other than that you should be ok (I would think).

I've asked the rep before, perfectly fine to give it with ulcer guard. The reps will tell you it will replace the ulcer guard and there is no need for it. . . . . . GIVE THE ULCER GUARD.
