| If you want to watch a good one, go see "God's Not Dead". It is a current film (not a biblical story), but I (mostly) liked it.
It is about a college freshman who takes on a philosophy professor to prove the existence of God. |

Oh common!!! What do you want??? In the literal tale, no one speaks until after a dove sent to find land returns with an olive twig in its beak, indicating the flood is over and the world is saved. In the movie version, people talk. Paramount altered its advertising to say the movie was “inspired” by the Bible story and is not the Bible story.
Note the frequent use of the word “movie” in the preceding paragraphs. This is because “Noah” is?a movie. It is not a sermon or a call to prayer. It cost $130 million to make and is intended to entertain, inspire and — bear with me, I know this is crazy — make money. It does not presume to encourage religious conversion, disrespect a prophet or evangelize a snake, though it does glorify virtue in the highest.
If you want a sermon, go to church. |

I was just making a comment about what I heard about the movie, didn't give an opinion one way or the other
I'm well aware that movies take liberties when it comes to "storytelling" and only care about their bank accounts... |

There is absolutely wrong with making money! Just be principled, ethical and factual when doing it. I am done posting on this thread! |

I know I said I am done posting on this. However, I am incredulous that someone actually cannot understand my post and therefore "disliked" it. Some people's kids! Whoever actually dislikes my thought process on this is more 'n likely unprincipled, nonfactual, unethical which leads directly to dishonesty! Not someone I plan on doing business with! |

| Technically, the people of that time did not have the word "God", that word was added when the Bible was translated into German/English. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | Yahweh, El, or words that meant stuff I can't remember like El Shadai. They had a jillion ways to reference God. They even had names to reference the female aspect of God. Btw, the flood story is much older and more widespread than only Noah's story as recorded in the Bible. Pretty much every ancient culture had a similar flood story. Were they all based on the same one? Who knows? I read fiction based on biblical stories all the time--some are pretty faithful to what is written, some get kind of out there, but they inevitably make me go back and read the original story to make comparisons. IMO, that's a good thing. |

Location: ND | never hardly get to a theatre but i'd watch it on DVD....don't really care whether they use the word god or not....it's a movie.....and religions other than christianity have great flood based myths.....although, technically, this one is about Noah.... |

Location: TN | Pastor Rick Warren posted on Facebook that it was a waste of his time. As a Christian I am only interested in the true version of the story of Noah. I don't know what all is in the movie but I hope it doesn't deter people from coming to Christ. Komet stay away from me on this....... |

Common Sense and then some
Location: So. California | It's a movie for goodness sakes. It may be loosely based on the biblical version of Noah, but as with most movies made about factual events, they take liberties with the story to make it more universally attractive. The entire story is packed into 139 minutes of run time.
I see it as a win for Christianity. A lot of people will go and watch the movie and it may just inspire a few of them to pick up a bible and read! What can be so wrong with that?
