Just was looking for some new boots and saw these. I know they are cheaper but I'm tired of paying $130 for sport boots. I have always used pro choice but wanted to try something else

I bought a few pairs to use at home just doing dry work and what not - nothing that needed a TON of support.... And I hated them. Dirt got in, they fit kind of funny, Velcro could have been stickier, and legs seemed warmer than normal when I took them off. I wouldn't waste my money on them.

Tried one pair for the same reason you did. They seemed to work at first, but the velcro is not as strong as on the more expensive boots.
Like you said, you get what you paid for.

I use them, and sell them, for a inexpensive boot they are very good, not everyone can afford the top of the line boots
and I would rather see people  with some protection on there horses legs them none at  all.  I have found that their bell boots last just as long at the more expensive brands

I actually love mine. I use them for schooling at home and have no heat/dirt issues. At shows we do Iconoclast fronts and polo hinds. Probably the only Tough-1 product I'd ever buy again (hate their tack and blankets)

I buy them for my kids who are going to ruin them going through the brush, leaving them out for the dogs to chew, etc. There is no point in spending a lot of $$ for a trail boot for a kid...but they do offer some protection, I'm not so sure about the same level of support, though.

I'm surprised so many have had problems with them. Just curious if you guys use the vented ones, or the regular ones? I have the vented ones, and haven't noticed any more heat in my horse's legs when compared to using Legacies. I'm also shocked to see some of you had problems with the Velcro! My Velcro is so sticky I have a hard time taking them off! I like them a lot, though I'm wondering if since they are cheaper, there is some inconsistency in them since I don't have the problems others do?

I agree!  Mine are fine, just wish they came in the "cool kid" colors :

Agreed! CE and ProChoice do offer some really neat patterns!

I love the CE Legacies, but for the price, I have been happy with my Tough 1 boots. It's nice to hear everyone else's opinions though.

Ditto!  I ordered a set for my "second-string"  horse, and loved them so much that I got rid of my SMBs and now everyone wears the Tough-1 boots.

i wish i had a picture to show you...i did a project. i bought the cheap-os (fronts) and then the same day bought smb elites (fronts) i purposely used them the same amount of times really testing to see how they each held up. the smb elites look over a year old and the tough 1 look like 2 months old! its incredible! and the velcro is so sticky i actually have problems getting them off. the smb velcro sewing is loose. i dont have problem with hot legs afterwards with either. since ive done this i refuse to pay $80 and up for boots made poorly. the tough 1 seems better quality anyways i think people just by pass them. i buy the tough 1 for 25$ at my local tack store. o and the smb also has the linning seperating from the boot almost worn thin and the tough 1 still looks new. so far im at month 2 with these boots. some people dont realize the tough 1 comes in all kinds of styles and fits just like the name brands but are very hard to find in my area. some vented some with wide straps some with thin straps, 2 or 3 straps, etc.
